Just remember..these are laker "fans" <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/5TLwotqLeMo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Dwight strikes me as someone that doesn't understand his own strengths and weaknesses. He fancies himself as a first option when Harden would clearly be the best offensive player on the team. When the GM and the coach make a pitch to him saying that the team will be centered around him and his post ups, there are multiple concerns that come up. What happens if the team does not do well with him as a first option? How will the locker room chemistry be changed when we move great guys like Asik and Lin for headcases just because they are D12's friends? Will Harden start demanding the ball? How will D12 react to that? etc etc Morey believes its worth the risk. I hope he hasn't fooled himself into unwarranted optimism.
Lol that site easily has the least educated and delusional fans. It's hilarious reading that site. Granted there are a few very smart posters, obviously.
Who gives a crap? Seriously guys, have some pride. Quit allowing what other fans say to bother you...it seems.......weak-minded. We know what we have, we know who we are, and we know what good can come from our present course. I know you worship the Lakers mystique, but their fans are just like any other fans(except with a HUGE portion of arrogance)...they dont know jack crap about other teams or cities. Why take their opinions seriously?
So which is it? Dwight asked ABOUT the Rockets adding a third star? "Hey guys, is it possible to maybe get someone else here? I don't know your cap situation but..." Or Dwight wants the Rockets to get a third star. "It's not enough here, if you guys can add someone else alongside me then that would be great." Because it's a huge difference. I think it's the former, that Dwight asked about the possibility hearing rumors about more moves (and I bet he gets more rumor news then all of us) and inquired about it. Either way we are ahead of everyone except Golden State where we are equal. Only us and Golden State can say we have a current star right now...Lakers and Mavs have stars of old...and oh yeah they can't even get another star and are going on promises. Dwight needs to look at Melo. Melo wanted to go to NYK despite their poor management...and he needs to see that the Rockets have the best FO out of all these teams. THEY WILL get pieces around these guys.
This is the problem with the NBA... Unless the next CBA does something to fix it, the product is going stale. Only like 3 or 4 teams out of 30 that have any shot to compete against the Heat???? The NFL model is so perfect.....
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>The bottom line is that Kobe is on his way out and the Lakers want to build around Dwight. Most stars would jump at that opportunity.</p>— Nate Jones (@JonesOnTheNBA) <a href="https://twitter.com/JonesOnTheNBA/statuses/351746366449520641">July 1, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Dwight should make his decision on July 4th Independence Day. Independence from the from non appreciative fans like the Lakers have!!!!
It's the NBA not the YMCA...$$$$$, the rest is bulls**t. But seriously, if you really want to win a championship and already have money. Why wait for some incompetent VP/GM to make bad moves that inhibit your ability to have a good supporting cast? He has the power, use it. Dwight has the power to match up with Miami or the Thunder while he is in his prime. Not everybody gets lucky like Kobe and winds up in the best franchise with the best player (Shaq). Why rely on luck when you don't have to? Force your hand and increase your chances.
I was not there so I am not going to bet my house on it lol but it was reported that Smith was across the street where Houston was meeting Dwight that very same night. Who knows 100% except those there but I believe that we will sign not only Howard but Smith too. Rockets have a deal in place for an even swap for Asik for Smith. Detroit is being used as leverage to make the SnT happen.
What team who are in pursuit of Dwight can offer two stars besides himself? LA has arguably one in Kobe, could add one maybe if they renounce Metta and trade Pau etc. Atlanta could have him & Josh, but even that's unlikely Dallas has arguably one, could have three in two years but by then Dirk is not a star anymore Houston has one, Parsons could become one but trading for Josh after that would leave a very thin bench. Nice dream but I don't see it happening in any city. If he insists, I see him staying a Laker or go to Dallas.
Yeah but the cap makes it kind of hard to do that. Someone is lying to him if he comes here EXPECTING us to add another star. We already have a superstar best SG in the NBA right now at 23...he's the best center in the NBA. If you add enough around these guys it's enough. If Morey could get Josh Smith too...then that's the most he can ask for at this point.
