The whole idea of remaking the team to fit Dwight rather than him coming in willing to adapt to the Rockets game really worries me. The priority should be what's best for the team but whenever Dwight is involved the conversation ends up turning into what's best for Dwight. Right now I'm unconvinced that this change in direction is a good idea but I will give Morey the benefit of the doubt.
Officially going on lurker/status for a few weeks...few thoughts: 1. I really hope the Rockets find a way to get Howard, it will really change our franchise and the team can make significant strides to compete in the West for a long time. Dwight has rejected our advances once, but it really is gonna be hard to reject an average looking girl from highschool that some how became a smoking hot broad in college...Dwight has a difficult decision, but hoping the Rockets have made it easier. 2. What happens to the Rockets that are on this roster? So far, Delfino, Garcia, Brooks, Robinson have all been cut/moved...Are Lin and Asik moving? What is our bench gonna look like? 3. If the changes do come to fruition? What will be our expectations for the Rockets in the next 3-5 years? I would shocked to see the Rockets just flame out like the TMAC and Yao experiment. I better hope we get at least a few shots at the title. 4. What if plan A doesnt work? Arent there gonna be hurt feelings? The Rockets and their mgmt put all their eggs in the basket going after Howard. They brought out the big guns with Hakeem, Clyde, Yao, Morey, Mchale, James, and Chandler and 2 IPads...What else could the Rockets have done to lure a free Agent to this city? Losing out on Howard might just be embrassing, bc technically we have whored out everyone to get this deal done. And if Howard just sticks it out with LA, what does that say about our drawing/recruiting power? Think of all the players that are inevitably tied to this transaction being done. ie. Smith, Brewer, etc. Think about the rumors that Asik and Lin had to go through and their "inevitable" hurt feelings... 5. What is plan B? Who are the targets...what if those flame out... 6. I really once again, hope our franchises fortunes change for the better. We have gone through a lot of failure, disappointments, Missed opportunities, mediocrity, 14th picks and unbearable injuries. Our fan base is rabid and excited at a chance to get back to the finals. To be a force in the West once again. James Harden was the gift that was dropped in our laps, that opened so many doors. It made us attractive once again as a FA destination. 7. I want to say that our Rockets are gonna be able to beat the best in the West and lift that Larry OBrien next year, but a lot of things have to go right from now till next June. So far things have looked wonderful, but a lot rides on this decision. Morey has busted his rear end for this city and our team. The executives have made wonderful decisions. This is our time, our dream, and our city. Clutch city will rise once again...Go Rockets and go Clutchfans.
It's incredible how arrogant their fanbase is. They will have no idea what to do if the team is bad for an extended period. The hatred of our city is absurd too. The fact is a majority of these people are what are referred to as 909ers or inlanders. They think that because geographically they live close to the city that they experience the same life, when in reality they are living vicariously through the more fortunate people. While Houston doesn't have the celebrity scene of Los Angeles, we don't have those delusional people that think that are part of something grand. The forum is acting as if Houston isn't a great city when in reality they aren't even living in Los Angeles and have most likely never visited Houston.
The Lakers are in a near panic mode to re-sign Dwight Howard this summer. Changes in CBA force Lakers into a place they've never been
Why in the world would you pin your hopes on a random dude on an Internet message board? Did you really think he had inside information lol
can anyone post this? http://www.hoopsworld.com/rockets-conclude-meeting-with-dwight-howard#disqus_thread

Like Bogey, I am totally with you on this. If some of the rumors are true about Dwight really wanting to be an offensive focal point, I worry about taking the third best post-player from the Lakers as our max-contract offensive centerpiece. I truly do. (dons flame suit). It seems that people are more caught up in the chase and "winning" the Dwight sweepstakes than analyzing all the outcomes. Yes, if he's healthy and in a great state of mind, we will be an incredible team. Maybe even fomfotable.
Im not saying he's another doc rocket or cyberx. We were led to believe that he had some picture or message that he immediately deleted after posting. Some posters confirmed this to be true. I guess I'm just dissapointed that he didnt deliver. Anyways, that doesnt matter anymore, cause it looks like Dwight Howard is coming here anyways.
