What a really exciting night for Rockets fans. Seems like the Rockets were well prepared made a good presentation. The key takeaways for me: - DR34M being hired as Dwight's personal coach - McHale talking about how the system will be centered around Dwight (not Harden) - Yao giving Dwight the China marketing angle (not JLin) - Drexler talking up how Dwight and Harden could be a legendary combo - Les saying he will spend the dosh to chase a ring - Morey explaining how he's going to build the team - Parsons and Harden talking about the great locker room chemistry - was the J.Smith rumour true? Surprises: - Robinson trade. Yeah! - Dwight will be the center piece of the team, not Harden. Probably better as he will be the best player. - Rockets chasing shooters to surround Dwight. Inside outside game with lots of post touches? - Mitch Kupchak meeting Dwight first at 9pm. What did he tell him, Phil Jackson coming back? - Atlanta want a straight sign and trade if Houston get Howard, Asik for J.Smith. Has this been confirmed? Feeling pretty good about Dwight coming now.
The meeting with Howard started at one place and ended in another. Don't know how much you trust Doc Rocket but we basically covered all this last night in this thread. You don't believe Smith was there ok but I don't have a reason not to believe he was not there either. Reports show that Smith was indeed in L.A. last night with Joe Dumars across the street where Houston was meeting Howard. This inside guys like Spears and Wojo are not going to give you every fine detail.
I can just see Nash talking to Dwight now... (Nash) Dwight, listen, I know Kobe's out this year, and I'll be gone in a year because there is no way Mitch in his right mind is going to re-sign me, but if you come back you can shoot 30 times a game. Hell, D'antoni might even let you start shooting 3's. For a full year you get to do whatever you want, then we'll get a top 10 pick and have cap room to make a desperate plea to Lebron. If that doesn't work, we'll go shell out huge money for someone like Rudy Gay to pair up with you! It's a no-lose situation! Plus Kobe will be back by then, and you know how much you love playing with him. (Dwight)Uh, why would I do that when I can go to Houston and win now with another superstar? (Nash)Man, come on, you could be right up there with Wilt and Jabbar!
has there been any significant information that describes Hakeems role with the rockets? Will he brought on as an assistant?
I agree. He's well connected and had some scoops last year. I just wish Dwight would end the charade, if he's truly sold, and put the dominoes in motion.
