this team would be second to none, from a talent perspective

all you'd need is a point guard who can shoot.

Josh Smith would make for the best complimentary piece to support Dwight Howard on the front line. No opposing player would be safe in the paint with Smith helping with weak side shot blocking.

and contrary to popular belief, Harden is actually a good defender when engaged. With the burden of not having to do everything on offense--off his shoulders, he'll have more energy to expend on the defensive end for once.

Parsons is the ultimate X-factor, fills in all the gaps, slasher, dead eye 3 point shooter.

    Make it happen, Houston

You forgot to mention Lin, friend! He has radically improved his shooting.

Jeez, it almost seems like yo don't want him. But I know that isn't the case; nobody could dislike Lin

Actually a PG who can create and pass would be more important than a shooting one in this lineup.

Do we want to kill Harden? we need players that can create. All the elite teams have multiple players that can create their own shot. But nah lets ride Harden into the freaking ground.

Clearly, Houston has decided which horses to keep in their stable.

Harden, Parsons are the only untouchables.

The rest, the sheep go the slaughter

Jeremy can shoot on occasion, he's just wildly inconsistent

Houston obviously has no faith in Jeremy, it's a shame

no, with this team, you'd need a Derek Fisher type of point guard.

You already have Harden for that purpose.

It's basically a newer version of Kobe and Shaq, that's the formula you use.

    This is the pedigree

What's the going rate for a PG who can shoot ~38% from 3s, has an elite 1st step, is one of the top 10 PnR players in the league, one of the better passers for transition offense, at the rim shots (for Howard and Smith) and corner 3s, is at least slight above average on defense, and has adjusted somewhat to playing off the ball and won't complain about his shots, touches or playing time?

Now if that person also brings in a lot of off-court revenue for the owner, which might make the owner more inclined to go deep into the luxury tax for players, as well as bring publicity to the team, and open the China market (300 million viewers) for a Free Agent Center that wants to be a global brand?

And that personal is young, still improving, and costs roughly what an average starting PG gets paid.

And that this PG does not need to be traded to fit Josh Smith into the salary cap by trading away Omer Asik + Royce White + Cash, using the 150% salary rule for trades.

Why so keen to trade him away?

The Rockets don't even want Lin, or should i say, they don't believe he's good enough to be a part of their future.

He also occasionally averaged ~40% from 3s for 2.5 mths ... or occasionally ~37-38% for half of the season (once injury free).

What's your special occasion, and how frequent is it?
