What is this, 20 questions? I don't even know what your point is.

I'll make my point clear: People jumped all over this guy (who I could care less about) and suddenly everyone is changing their tune. Just funny is all.

Here's my point, he was wrong

Saying that Lin is being dumped for salary relief when it's because they're looking to trade for upgrades is like saying the sun is hot because it's big.

If Deeks had said, Morey is looking to upgrade Lin to a better starting pg (which is the truth), few people would have even blinked twice.

Those are probably the same people who think William Hung is the most popular and wealthiest singer in China. "Hey, he was on American Idol, and he's Chinese, how can they not worship him !?!"

Here comes another fifty posts from Fair Dinkum on how Adande sucks but without much variation or any substance.

there is a difference, however in essence i never doubted the leak.
Lets see how this plays out. Other teams have to be willing to absorb Lin's contract also, and frankly based on his performance to income, it's not that attractive.

    we will see.

The JA Adande source actually contradicts that, because the report says Houston would require a starting point guard in exchange for Lin. Does that make any sense if they think Beverly is better than Lin? That Beverly is starter-worthy?

Don't mind Clutch though, I can understand why he'd want to suck up to insiders who deign to post on our board.

No, we're comparing how the racist people on Clutchfans think of Lin, and how racist people thought of William Hung. End of discussion.

lin is a nice guy and all plus a good player, but we want to be a contender which means sacrafices have to be made. Asik and Lin are the lambs.

IMO, Lin is still critical to this team though. I know he sucks in the Playoffs but he didn't get to play at full strength. But i think without Lin, this team won't be able to operate efficiently. Beverley is not the type that do those football passes and see the floor and push the ball as fast as Lin and totally make it easy for teammates. WIthout Lin creating offense, all balls go to Harden and that allowed the defense to hone on him exclusively which will make it hard. And i think people forget that during the regular season, without Lin pushing and running the offense, this team offense really suck. I myself EVEN remember saying that myself. And i remember how Lin could become a much better player if it wasn't for Asik dropping passes or being slow and immobile. SO i think if they keep Lin and if Howard join the club, he will make Lin a much better player and Lin will give him a lot of easy dunks all game long. So with that said, i think Lin is still very valuable to this team.

When Deeks and I had convo on twitter,he was trying to say Lin is basically untradeable because of his contract structure. That was my beef, not the fact morey is shopping Lin. Look, we are not dumb as to why they signed lin. They wanted intrest while in rebuilding mode. Lin to dragic or lowry was a downgrade. Anyone with any sense knew that. Once they got harden, now they have the star without trying to be fuffy about it.

    based on last season

    Lowry
    Lin
    Dragic

Dragic wasn't that great last season. I think he is a system type player. He thrives in a certain system.

Given that Les isn't looking to save money out of cheapness, what's the difference? If the Rockets trade Lin for a guy making $3mil, then used the rest of $5mil to get in Morey's mind a better player, in the end isn't that the same thing?

If Morey ends up trading Lin for a player with bigger price tag, then he'd be wrong. But if Morey trades Lin for a player with smaller price tag, regardless of quality, then proceed to use that money in FA or via trade to make the team better, then he's still correct.

Once Deeks wrote his Tweet there were plenty of people on both sides with their own agendas trying to either destroy or promote what he was saying (by destroying or promoting him). I would suggest that neither side was exactly a shining beacon of maturity, or rational thinking, for that matter.

And Mark, if you're still reading this thread, I hope you don't take my criticisms as a personal attack against you. I just have high standards for journalism, even when it comes to sports. If you don't mind, I would just highlight the specificity of sourcing in the ESPN article's report:

"An NBA general manager tells ESPN's J.A. Adande and Chris Broussard that he was offered point guard Jeremy Lin by Houston in a potential deal."

Even here, ESPN is covering its ass by pointing out that it's just one source, and the exact same source telling two different reporters.
