The more interest the Lakers have in players like Delfino and Copeland, the more Morey can just point out to Howard how little the Lakers "name" mean. If the Lakers were truly the Lakers, they'd be calling the likes of Brandon Jennings or JJ Redick to sign for their $3mil exception. In the end, money talks. And the Lakers in 2014 isn't just going to be able to sign a bunch of awesome players to surround Howard with because they'll all be willing to take less for the almighty Laker jersey.
Or maybe the Lakers are so confident in retaining Dwight they're only worried about adding depth, and who better than the Rockets to steal off of.
I have a really good feeling that either Carlos Delfino or Garcia will be back with the Rockets. They're going to wait until Dwight makes his decision, either he sign with Houston or not, they will go after one of these guys.
