Why do this now? I wouldn't let this get out until Dwight signs, I mean you don't want another Kevin Martin scenario...

Also I think we will trade Lin if we get D12 or not just cause Mchale knows Beverly is the better player and will end up the starter.

Have you guys learned nothing? Every player on this roster (besides Harden) has always been available. Morey isn't one to shy away from discussing hypothetical deals. But there is a big difference between discussing them in trades and a trade of either one being imminent.

They're both on the table, but that's all that's been reported. Morey is higher on Lin that probably every other GM in the league, so its unlikely he'll be able to get what he sees as fair value in return. Asik is trade-able, but Howard may want assurances that he's not going to be the only big defensive man on the team. It's not impossible that we end up keeping both of them in the medium term. I doubt both are traded.

I recently saw a tweet saying it wasn't Detroit.

I guess I'll keep checking the feed.

This is what I fear. Lin's contract is not desirable right now for anyone to take on. He is just not worth that contract currently. I hate seeing Asik go too but he deserves to start which he wouldn't for the Rox if they get Howard. People were saying playing Asik and Howard could work but I don't know. Asik and Howard are pure centers, I don't think either one of them would be a good long term option to play at PF.

I'm doubtful Lin/Asik are going anywhere unless its for a 3rd star. I'm not a big fan of Josh Smith, but if we could perhaps work out a Lin/Asik -> Teague/Smith package I'd be all for it.

Lin is a MDA guy. Howard hates MDA. Once the dust settles and Jim bus is no longer butt hurt about loosing Howard. I think the Lakers will put out feelers On what it would take to get Lin.

I could do Asik for Smith as long as we have Howard onboard. We solve our PF weakness while upgrading out C spot. Win-Win.

And keep Lin - and his fans.... wait, maybe we trade him...

Weird then that he played PF in high school and started the NBA as a PF huh?

I just don't understand why Morey would move Lin. We don't need to to sign Howard. CP3 is off the table so even if we move Lin/Asik, we can't get CP3 to come...so what's his endgame? What move can we possibly do w/ Lin that makes our team better? What is on the table for virtually Lin-only?

Asik makes sense. Get JSmith or something...there are moves that could make us better if Howard comes and makes Asik a bit more redundant.

Shopping around does not mean he plans to move him. Morey said as much with the PPat trade that came together in one night. He was just putting the feelers out and Sac Town actually came back with an offer he liked.

There are now a few reports on twitter that are surfacing on the Asik / JSmoove trade with specifics so I give that more credence than shopping around rumours.

I'm not talking about when Howard was in high school or when he first came to the league, I'm talking about Howard now. Howard NOW is not a PF type player in my opinion (mid range game, some face up capability, etc.)

But its getting to the point where Beverley is just better value then Lin right now. If we do get Dwight/a shot at Smith, we're still going to have to add players. The marginal utility of Lin over Beverley is not that great given the contract situation, it isnt a knock on Lin as a player or even saying Beverley is better (I think Lin is a better player) but thats a decent amount of salary that could otherwise be used.

I think it speaks to their confidence in Bev and Canaan (yes, a rookie... guy seems fearless). I'm a Lin fan. Want to see him do well here, but this is my feeling.

Also, who knows... Morey may have feelers out there on a Jarrett Jack or someone like him.

I agree, I don't see it as "imminent" :p But it's interesting he's even putting feelers out, given my aforementioned concerns/logic. I don't think those change even if you replace the word w/ feelers. It isn't like he's putting some out on a Parsons deal or even on the young PFs. Almost as if he's trying to clear the $8.3M, but w/ CP3 off the table...why?

JSmith for Asik is too obvious. Plenty of us called that months ago -- we'll see if they end up pulling the trigger though. It is a good movie imo.

Right, but why work hard to move Lin's $8.3M just to sign Jack to a similar deal? lol that might last longer? I don't get that.

I'm just trying to figure out what the endgame of moving Lin in THIS juncture would be, w/ Howard mostly locked up (presumably) and CP3 not leaving LAC (presumably).

Pretty much all are problems are solved when we sign Howard. Endless amounts of options open up.
