Maybe he got close to T-Rob and is just sad from the trade.

 

Greg smith getting waived? Man I would HATE to be a fringe player playing for Morey.

 

I dont think that makes sense. Even if they would waive him it still wouldnt be enough to offer Dwight the max. Why would they even think about trading asik if they could just waive smith to make room for dwight? Maybe Greg is just sad that his buddy Thomas got traded..

 

Morey gave up Patrick Patterson for 2 future 2nds. Nice.

 

I wouldn't. Smith was undrafted and brought up through the Rockets D-league team. How many organizations could a player like Smith have grown and made it to the NBA with? If you are a fringe player trying to crawl your way into the NBA then Morey is the perfect GM for you. He is all about developing players and making them contributors.

 

I think he's probably just sad about T. Rob. During Bev's last twitter Q&A, somebody asked who he was closest to off the court. He listed Harden, T. Rob, Jones and Smith w/ the hashtag #CLIQUE

I'm still salty about 2Pats. Even though I'm a little sad to see T. Rob go, I never really gave him a chance to endear himself to me b/c I was still salty. LOL.

I'm really rooting for Papanikolau to make it in the NBA. He has shown some glimpses of brilliance. You can't say for sure that his Euroleague play will translate, but he seems to be a good fit. He's great in transition, very scrappy, can dunk oops, gets some highlight chase-down blocks every now and then, plus he shot 52.1% from 3 point range in the EL this year.

Last year he shot 100% from the field in both the final and semifinal. He scored 18 points against AK47, which isn't a huge number, but it's a rather decent chunk of the 62-61 final score.


All in all, I love this trade. I kinda liked T-Rob, but he was a necessary sacrifice in the chase for Dwight, so I was just hoping for a good haul. The possibility of Papanikolau transitioning from my favorite Euroleague team to my favorite NBA team is a bonus.
