    Yep, that's it.

So, while most of us know and understand WHY Morey would make calls to gauge interest on Lin, this makes perfect sense now.

If this "inside" report has any validity, they definitely don't want to move Asik unless absolutely necessary.

According to all the calculating I've done, SOMETHING in addition to moving T-Rob will have to be done. I'm not even sure moving T. Jones is enough to offer Dwight the max (been awhile since I played with the numbers - and Bima hasn't put anything out addressing it recently). So, maybe there IS a deal for Lin set up, contingent on Dwight signing. I know Clutch said he has a hard time seeing Les letting Lin go, and I agree.

But, if it HAS to be done - i.e. it's easier to move him as opposed to moving T. Jones and Royce (or stretching Royce), there may not be a choice.

(All this, if the cap remains at 58.5)

If that`s the case I am sure our proposal looks something like this:

"Ok, you get T-Rob, but you will also need to take Royce White off our hands - we don`t even need a pick in return, just give us a late 2nd rounder and we`re find."

Getting rid of both of them gives us more than 5 million in capspace, and that should definetly be enough.

It probably got posted but trade TRob for nothing in return and stretching Royce gets us the space needed right? And we keep Smith and PBev of course.

If we moved Lin, what would be the PG backup plan? All money on Canaan?

IF we move Lin we would then have some cap space freed that could be used to add a cheaper option at PG IF Morey feels it is needed. Who knows he might be fine with Bev and Canaan seeing how much Harden plays and handles the ball.

My guess would be Calderon - dead eye shooter, good assist numbers and ball security. And he should only cost about half as much as Lin (cap wise).

See, I don't think so. This below from this thread 2016 Champions just made earlier today. I know this has been went over several times in recent weeks, but this is the latest, so I'll use his... http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=240475

NOTE: All cap space amounts are calculated to an estimated salary cap of $58.5 million.

    James Harden: $13,668,750
    Omer Asik: $8,374,646
    Jeremy Lin: $8,374,646
    Thomas Robinson: $3,526,440
    Royce White: $1,719,480
    Terrence Jones: $1,551,840
    Donatas Motiejunas: $1,422,720
    Chandler Parsons: $926,500
    Greg Smith: $884,293
    Patrick Beverley: $788,872
    Tyler Honeycutt: $100,000 (waived)
    Roster charge: $490,180
    Roster charge: $490,180

    Total = $42,318,547 = $16,181,453 in cap room
    - Thomas Robinson ($3,526,440) = $19,707,893 in cap room
    - Savings from waiving and stretching Royce White ($656,320) = $20,364,213

Now, he forgot to add back in the roster charge after moving T-Rob (490,180).

This puts the cap room at 19,874,033... still, a little short of the approx. 20.5M max offer to Dwight.

Now, Bima DID explain the 12th or 13th man cap hold, but I don't recall if that 12th or 13th cap hold stays present before Dwight would sign or not (in other words, we'd have the extra 490,180 to offer Dwight - which brings it awful close... maybe 300Kish away from the max offer).

This is why I've always thought IN ADDITION to moving T-Rob, T. Jones might get moved.

But, again... if there's legitimacy to Ron from the G's post, maybe Lin IS moved - White isn't stretched (if he can't be attached to another deal such as T-Rob) and T. Jones isn't moved.

Maybe Morey finds it more beneficial to the team to keep T-Rob and Jones and not have to stretch White... and moves Lin. Frees up additional space.

Now, I don't know where we have to be before/after Dwight signs to get all our exceptions - whether or not we'd LIKE to have a few million extra after signing Dwight, or if we WANT to be right at the cap. I'm not a CBA guy.

Maybe Bima can help us here.

I stopped trying to figure this all out a week or so ago and just put my trust in Morey...lol.

Also, maybe if the numbers above are corrrect - if the thing Bima covered a few days ago actually GIVES us the 490K more in room, simply waiving G. Smith puts us RIGHT at the max for Dwight.

Maybe part of the presentation is we can keep G. Smith if you take 300Kish less...lol.... who knows.

I'm sure Morey will have SEVERAL options to discuss with Dwight.

calderon plays zero defense though, so i don't see him as a realistic replacement. i wonder if jarrett jack could be obtained somehow though...

I think Calderon would be a great fit. Any team with Dwight will have an above average defense.

If we get Dwight this is not the time to worry about a few millions in luxury payment if I am Leslie Alexander

    Keep lin and Beverley
