Rockets have been offered a 1st round pick for Thomas Robinson (UPDATE: So much for "imminent")

Totally agree with this. You could package Lin+Robinson to say maybe do a S&T for Paul Millsap? ;-)

The trade will happen. My theory is since the Rockets were so public about "stashing" a euro player that that gave player agents' an upper hand in negotiations if the Rockets drafted one. They could basicly refuse to go back to Europe unless they get what they want.

I think once players who were drafted by teams like San Antonio sign letters of their intention to continue playing in Europe then the Rockets could complete the deals they had in place. Lots of players were refusing to stay in Europe during the draft

Do not want to lose Beverly and Greg Smith.

Iguodala's good, but not great. Paying him a penny of 12 million could be a big mistake IMO. His stats the last 3 seasons haven't been too impressive, of course he's a great wing defender but still.

Avg around 13 points on around 45% and 35% on 3's - under 65% free throw shooting - about 5.5 rebounds and assist, to go with .6 of a block and 1.7 steal's.

I guess he'd be ok for our 3'rd star but he seems more like a glue guy then a star, and we already have a pretty good glue guy in parsons. Yeah his D is much better but we could sign a much cheaper role player like T.Allen to play D. If we we're getting a third star i'd prefer J.Smith personally.

Could come down to who Dwight Howard wants and who is available (Iggy). And if Iggy will take a bit less money than he might make somewhere else.

Iggy is a very good player if you put him in the right situation.

We won't, at least not by cutting them. Cutting Bev and Smith would save about 300K and 400K respectively. At worst you could get a 2nd rounder for each of them.

My theory is you try and duct tape Royce White to Greg Smith (or Thomas Robinson). You probably can't get much of a return, but that gets you within about 100-200K of the full max if it's White+Robinson, and more than enough if it's White+Smith and you also move T-Rob separately.

I would pay teams to take White and would give them T-Rob on top, just to get rid of White.

The official cap #s won't come out until the END of the July moratorium on July 10th. So, the team likely will not know exactly which contracts they need to move until then. http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q102

Morey probably has all the reasonably possible scenarios worked out already.

Moving Lin to upgrade other positions? Leavin us with only Bev and Canaan at the point? Guess this ABJ thing IS real.

Be surprised if Lin is still here.

I am not here for any plan that involves moving Bev.

I'm with you on that, NIKE. Boston is a very intriguing trade partner for the Rockets. Now that they've shown their hand and gone full rebuild, they make a lot of sense here.

Exactly. Something like Millsap, if they really like him, though I don't know if they like him that much or if his salary will be in range. Robinson the Rockets have to move just to get Dwight (as you know, of course), but if Millsap's salary is comparable to Lin's, then something like that is what I'm talking about. If they can replace Lin easier than they can find an upgrade at four, then, from a purely basketball standpoint, something like that makes a ton of sense.

I still have a hard time seeing Les Alexander dealing Lin, though.

If I found a deal for Royce, I'd be elated too :)

Not sure about that, but I do find it interesting though that there has been no mention yet (to my knowledge?) that Royce White is playing next week in Summer League.

Does anyone have the post the "other" insider made a couple weeks back?

The one where I believe he said things looked real good as far as attaining Dwight and then added that Lin is most likely gone if we do?

Based it off some information he had or heard within the organization.

Can't remember his name or the thread.

If I remember correctly, he either sounded legit or was vouched for?

One of the biggest questions will be whether the Rockets keep Asik if Dwight signs, but that's a catch 22, because they won't trade Asik until they get Dwight, and they can't sign Dwight until they clear cap, so something else has to give first.

Letting go of T-Rob for nothing would be a huge mistake. What if Howard does not come here?
