In a loss to the Chicago Bulls on January 21, 2013, Kobe shot 22 times and Dwight shot 5 times:

    http://espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=400278332

After the game, Dwight wasn't happy about that.

    http://www.ocregister.com/articles/howard-408753-lakers-team.html

The guy who wrote the article, Kevin Ding, then went on to crush Howard for the Lakers' underachieving ways.

Howard knows if LA doesn't perform up to par -- and they're not likely to do so next year -- then he will be blamed. Even if it's unwarranted. Because the town, and the national media, is filled with people who will give Kobe a pass. And Howard will be blamed even if he's only getting 5 shots a game.

So, Kobe has to go to the Lakers pitch meeting and say something like "I'm handing off the team to you," or something.

I doubt Howard will believe him. I would not believe him, and in case I had any doubts, I would just go back and look at the articles from Kevin Ding and many others who made Howard the scapegoat for the Lakers' disastrous season.

I am very sure Howard doesn't want to go through that again, no matter how much he likes LA.

I think the Clippers are the Rockets biggest threat to getting D12

Kobe: Let's go Dwight, you can be my Tyson Chandler. Stop playing around with these other teams.

This is where Kobe's "All Competitive, Egotistical, I can make any shot, just pass me the ball" mindset can/will be a problem. Because players of Kobe's type (Bird, Jordan, Magic, etc.) never had to "pitch" to a player to stay with them. They always felt that as long as they were on the team, the team was a contender. But those players almost always had great guys around them so during the majority of their playing days "recruiting" was never needed, nor was it the norm of those times.

But in order for Kobe's "recruiting pitch" to be viewed as genuine and believable he's going to have to change his core. He's going to have accept the role as Robin, AND be willing to let D12 take the role of Batman. He's also going to have to back up on his strong support of MDA, since Dwight doesn't have confidence in him to make good coaching decisions. And I for one can't see Kobe doing any of these things.

All I see is Kobe telling Dwight: MDA is a good coach, he knows where we should go. If we both trust management, and the system of the coach, we have a chance to be really good next year and beyond. If you don't believe me, then screw you, I didn't need THE REAL SUPERMAN; Shaq, and I therefore definitely don't need you! I"m outta here.....

I just posted this in another thread.....

Kobe can follow up the Lakers "Stay" campaign with.... "Sit". "Fetch". "Down". "Roll over". "Play dead."

Someone who is talented with the graphics, please work up some photoshopped banners with these dog commands, to make fun of the Lakers and turn Howard against them further.

Kobe has a track record of convincing his so call "enemies" to join the Lakers. Ron Artest, Matt Barnes, heck even Nash who many people thought no chance in hell would join the Lakers.

LA's best chances are to show Dwight that they are willing to let go of Kobe
