no, he's profited from the advantages of LA, but any idiot could have traded Bynum for Howard if the other teams do the leg work for you etc

when it comes to actually managing the roster, he's downright terrible, gave away draft picks to overpay Nash (no really...he did....), but I think the best part is Jim has become such a whipping boy, they don't realise it's their GM that's the biggest dud of all.

    He's the Anti Buford.

They would only save 4.5 mil by cutting him. He has flaws but at 4.5 mil / 1 year he's a decent 6th man.

I think we should keep a close eye on the new GM in Denver.

After letting George Karl go they also traded their starting center (Kousfos?) to the Grizzlies for Darrell Arthur, which, okay...but, that mean they are depending on JeVale McGee to be their starting center.

You couple that with the fact that they will probably lose Iguodala, did not improve the team at all in the draft, and are set up to make a lot of decisions in building the roster for next season under a 1st year coach -- this team could be taken from a home court advantage playoff team to out of the playoffs in one year. Depending on how that turns out and they react to that, this team has the potential for train wreck territory.

Billy King is playing fantasy basketball instead of real basketball, they are so over the cap now, they can't even use cap exceptions. They can't do S&T, they have no draft picks. Nets are basically stuck with an aging roster with no way to get any cheap help.
Not to mention the rookie coach....

That's very debatable. By that token, Miami is also a video game team the first year, and they made it to the Finals.

The Nets is a veteran team with proven winners hungry for more. They might not be the best team, but they are much better than last year, and the year before.

If they want picks, DWill and Lopez are young and valuable enough to be worth a lot of picks. When you are in a win now mode and unlimited money, draft picks mean nothing.

Sam Presti who can't do much without top 5 picks. The only thing keeping his rep now is Ibaka. The Perkins trade& contract and the Harden trade are very Kahnical

While that's true, he did retrieve Phil Jackson, retained Kobe, drafted Bynum, traded for Gasol, got MWP and produced two championships with that group. It's hard to argue against results.

Furthermore, the fact that he convinced HOFers to play for the Lakers was impressive. He got Payton and Malone for nothing, and later Nash and Howard for only a crippled Bynum was impressive. No, they didn't pan out. Any team in the league would die to have a shot at those HOFers.

He is an old school GM (not a number junkie) who tried to take advantage of the brand of the LA Lakers. He won some and lost some, but he's nowhere near comically bad.

Billy king is incomplete. If they win a championship but lose two lottery picks, what is his verdict?

It's the Joe Dumars question. He created a highly competitive team for three years but made a lot of disastrous decisions since like done wasted picks and trades

He'stotally a joke now but he has a ring

The Bulls GM has been pretty terrible in my opinion. For years their main weakness has been at the shooting guard position, and they couldn't manage to pickup somebody to help them out there. They could've very easily traded Asik to us a few years back for either Lee or Martin (Martin would've been fair value), but instead they didn't move and ended up too stingy to match Asik's contract because of the terrible job they've done constructing their roster over the past few years. They gave Deng a pretty terrible and limiting contract and the same goes for Boozer. Neither of those guys are a good Robin to Derrick Rose's Batman. They're putting all of their eggs in the Derrick Rose basket and haven't done anything to improve their team with Rose out with injury. Next season Rose will be back with a team worse than the team he got injured on with no prospects of improving. They won't pull the trigger on using the Amnesty Provision on Boozer, and they didn't pull the trigger when Gasol was rumored to be available, and even recently with Aldridge being rumored to be available.

For all of these reasons, I think the Bulls GM has been the most terrible GM in the league. That organization has been too conservative in their roster moves, and I don't see that trend changing. In my opinion Derrick Rose ends up leaving as a Free Agent when his contract expires.

If you had to give him a grade on the KG/Pierce trade today, what would it be?

Joe Dumas is interesting. Yeah he won a championship and drafted those two. He also drafted Darko over melo, wade and bosh, traded Billups for iverson, and signed Charlie v and Ben Gordon to big contracts. So yeah, there's that.

Why? Let's be honest most people thought he shoud have gotten Bynum for Howard and he came out looking like a genius for that. He's been there a year and started off on the right path. You fail.

Let's be honest. Everybody knows Afflalo and change was option #3 after our bevy of picks and Bynum. Hennigan does not get credit for hindsight which demonstrated that Toronto would surpass expectations or that Bynum would sit the the year. Faxt of the matter is that he's madr moves in acquiring Afflalo and now Oladipo that will ensure his team's place in mediocrity for years to come. Worst of all he's proven to be a GM who lets his ego get in the way of doing what is best for his team. He will be the baskrtball version of Paul dePodesta, showing that youth does not always equal innovation and competency.

I don't think Joe Dumars can be considered comically bad because of his recent draft picks Drummond and Monroe
