Phil has gone DocRocket on everyone. :p

I'm leaving LA, going up to Montana(as reported yesterday). While I’m there, I expect to see you get on board. This is your place. (You belong here in LA? This(LA) is the place for you?)

I thought that was one of the BIGGEST tells in that article. Basically the Howard camp does not believe in the long term growth of the team. That's pretty significant! Especially juxtaposed the impending Morey "asset breakdown" at the meeting.

If it is about winning NOW and in the FUTURE...then the choice is obvious.

It's actually pretty amazing when you think about it.

The Lakers, who were co-favorites for the title at one point in the preseason before the 2012-13 campaign, are now not even realistic contenders in the upcoming season. Kobe's not going to be himself next year, because of the injury. So even if Dwight comes back and plays his best ball ever, it still wouldn't be enough, I don't think. They're just too old and Kobe at less than 100% at age 35 won't do.

Then, you have a new owner or ownership structure. Who is in charge? Who has final say? I've heard that it's Jeannie and that it's Jim. If you're Dwight, what would you think?

Combine this all with Howard not necessarily wanting to play second fiddle to Kobe for a few more years, it doesn't seem like a tough call to want to move on.

I think Dwight wants to stay in LA. With the Clippers. Since that doesn't look likely, Team Dwight probably sees greener pastures elsewhere.

If it's down to just basketball success reasons there is only one team he goes to and that's Houston

So basically if the Lakers change the staff, they screw themselves, and if they don't change the staff, they're still screwed.

    Nice

It's about public perception. Not he said / she said. If Dantoni gets fired, it's on Dwight. Period. No matter what anyone says or does not say.

Something that I hope Dwight considers, if he re-signs with the Lakers, and they eventually fired D'Antoni, Dwight's going to get the blame no matter what.

Could mean he knows where the Lakers are at and will not change his mind, could be a good sign.
