Sure they don't mind paying extra or losing some but there has to be some kind of benefit or there is no reason to do it. That reason has to be his play or the cash he brings in. I don't know how much cash he brings in but last year's play did not warrant burning that kind of cash for.nothing.

Now if they trade him this year it won't be too bad because its more spread out with a bargain year before the hike.

BTW not hating just stating the facts. Even Asik has the same issue though his play makes it somewhat more palatable.

I don't think most believe that Lin isn't being shopped. All possibilities are probably being explored to free up cap. It's his intertwining of facts and opinions that have people asking him to clarify his tweets.

I really like Lin (as a 6th man, Manu role), but I also really hopes he gets traded so that I don't have his rabid annoying beiberite-like fans on my favorite basketball forum.

Him leaving may or may not help the team but it will exponentially increase my enjoyment of being a Rocket fan.

Long live Lin, death to all Lin fans....

Well, most average starting point guards are paid about what Lin gets paid, those not on their rookie contracts. Lin numbers overall was average and had some above average/to great games last year. He also helped get us to the playoffs. Yes, it might be more benefical for other teams to want get him this year to spread it out, but if they get him the last year, it could be less risky for them if things don't work out to get him for one year and an expiring contract.

They don't get paid 15...that's the problem. Players getting paid 15 bring something very special to the team.

Maybe you should stay away from Lin threads.

That is the cap hit not salary paid. His paycheck is 5/5/15.

Edit: if you change that to yearly base it will reflect the correct numbers.

True, but his cap his is only 8 million so you have money to add players to help the team.

Correct but the owner has to pay a very large check ...15 million...to Lin. There has to be a reason. Play or pay...something has to quantify the pickup next year.

You're making a joke of them so I would call it attacking. No one wants to be made a joke of. Now you're attacking me.

Perhaps the expiring 8 million is enough and money Lin will bring in. Also Lin can play average to above average as of now. Who knows how he will play next year, maybe he improve a lot. Anyways, it's up to the GM what is more important to them.

Believable. Trading Lin for cap space would give us room for Howard, and we have a capable backup in Beverly on the roster.

Don't understand how the salary bump effects Howard. Maybe it is poorly worded. The salary hike would be a negative to an acquiring team that would lessen the cash cow benefit.

    "I'm not a journalist", "I'm not a rumor monger"

What else is there? You had a purpose in mind when you hit send, what was it? (probably self promotion if you're honest)

It's a real problem of the modern era that information and misinformation, opinion and fact, all appear to be equal in the unvetted world of instant anonymous posting. The poster is posting hearsay. He and we have no way of knowing it's truth or the intent of the original speaker (or whomever he is repeating it from) . You would have to know the whole story, the context, the actual quotes and attributions, you know real journalism, before you can take anything on Twitter as anything but info-tainement. We all need to maintain a healthy skepticism and not take anything rumor based with much seriousness.

Everything on the internet is actually true
