I want to cover myself. He could pan out into something special (what we hoped morris could be), but odds are stacked against him as it is.

This MAYBE can be like a Mario Williams over Reggie Bush/Vince Young/Matt Leinart kinda thing. That they didnt follow the hype and names and just went with who was actually the best fit and best player FOR THEM.

    Lol.

I've seen Anthony Bennett play quite a few times, but my summary will be brief. He can do it all offensively. His main weakness on the offensive end, however, is his post game. Him and Thompson can work well together due to Tristan's developing game down low and Bennett's range. Anthony can get out and run and will be the beneficiary of easy baskets as a result of playing with Irving.

On the other side of the ball, he's a decent team defender, but a below average individual defender. His main weakness defensively is post defense. He allows deep position and has a tendency to get backed down and out-muscled in the post. He sometimes doesn't try to contest/block the shot of his man, but instead chooses to remain on the ground and go belly up with both hands straight up in the air. Interestingly, his style of play on defense isn't detrimental to his rebounding. He has great basketball instincts and good hands and positions himself well for offensive and defensive rebounds.

I've heard nothing but good things about him off the court. He was a nice guy the only time I met him. That's all I got.

This is a very weak draft and there is no sure future all-stars. The Cavs picked the player who they thought would fit their team the best. Good for them.

The Cavs actually have a pretty good track record with NO.1 overall picks. There is no way that Bennett turns out to be as good as their last three No.1 overall picks, but I will give them the benefit of doubt until proven otherwise.

Because they thought: hey, any time we can grab Brandon Bass with the number one pick, we gotta do it!

Brandon Bass is exactly the player Bennett reminds me of.

Wow... still can't believe he went #1 ...

Yesterday I heard comparing him to Elton Brand, but Brand was much bigger then Bennett. Bennett in shoes measured 6'7 with a 7'1 wingspan, while Brand on the other hand was 6'9.5 with a massive 7'5.5 wingspan.

Noel must be pissed just by sliding from #1 to #6, he already lost about $8.5 million over the life of the rookie contract & qualifying offer.

Maybe the Cavs have a July 10 trade in mind.

I'm sure Tristan Thompson's first reaction at hearing Bennett's name called was, WTF? And then he called his agent. Then he said WTF? again.

    Yup.

I don't see Bennett playing the 3, at least not permanently. And he will definitely not back up Thompson. One will have to go, and it will be Thompson, who's actually becoming a pretty good player.

^Correct. He's missed all fifteen of his shot attempts through tonight's game.

I wonder what the Cavs would be like right now, with Oladipo instead of Bennett...

OP, you ask why the Cavs selected Anthony Bennett? I'm sure they are asking themselves that same question.

0 points through 4 games. You don't draft chunky (porky?), short players with the #1 pick in the draft for their defense. If Bennett can't light it up on offense, he's a bust in the purest sense of the word. But give him more time to become acclimated.

JJ, I guess they didn't want to offend (or trade) Dion Waiters and that is why they passed on Oladipo.

Right now if the Cavs trade Tristan they will have no shot at making the playoffs IMO.
