Yeah, I thought Phil said he can't physically do it anymore. Besides, Phil saying call me again when you have a solid offer sounds like a snub after what happened with D'Antoni the first time around. Another thing, Phil doesn't sound like someone who will coach a rebuilding team, he seems to choose contending teams to coach for.

SOME news: Phils camp today did NOT respond to a question about this report. With my past experience Todd always denies things like this. This time he did not.

    Telling...

The Broussard report today seemed like a clear message from the Dwight camp to the Lakers: Axe D'Antoni or Dwight is gone.

So, maybe now the Lakers are getting serious about trying to bring Phil back.

    Hmmmmmmmmm.

Ahhhh no, why would we sign and trade when we can sign him outright...?

The Lakers just hired one of D'antoni assistants today, if they're moving for a dramatic last second Phil switch, they're certainly hiding it well.... lol

Dallas and the Lakers are in much the same place, if anything, Dallas' bits and pieces are better

    I agree. lol

The report that made me laugh the most today was Mike Breshnahan (sp?) of the LA Times saying Jeanie Buss has final say on decision for the Lakers. I'm not buying that. I'm not sure Cyberx or Jim Buss is buying that, either.

    Wow, that's great news.

Coupled with the desperation billboards they put up yesterday, I think the Lakers have only just realised Dwight is leaving because of the coach. Very hard for them suddenly change. Maybe Phil will take a FO job.

More importantly, will it be enough to get Dwight to stay?

LOL, Rockets draft a PG, LOFs want to bail to LA now.

I like Lin and think he has a future. He is an above average PG IMHO, which is good enough for most teams, but he is never going to be a real star. If you guys are following the player and not the team... Her will be moved at some point. I for one will not miss the LOFs.

Dallas' roster (not incl. todays draft picks)

    Nowitzki
    Marion
    Mayo
    Carter
    Cunningham
    Crowder
    James
    Akognon

    $43 million.

If they get rid of Marion, they can sign Dwight. Not sure if that's a better roster than Houston if we get rid of T-Rob and stretch White.

I don't understand why LA would be willing to fire ANOTHER coach just so Dwight will re-sign...

If they're just patient they can be huge in the 2014 free agency. Just wait a little bit and the can bounce back.

Don't get too excited. The new assistant was mark madsen (former laker role player) who was already a coach for the lakers d-league team. His salary is probably minor. Mike has no serious assistants on his staff. There's probably a good reason Alvin Gentry turned down the asst position for the lakers to accept the same position for the clippers. Apparently the clippers outbid LA by a mile. lakers are trying to minimize costs to keep open the possible coaching change. The last several days with dwight turning on the heat probably has scared them a lot. If LA doesn't hire Phil we win (barring a last minute clippers Hail Mary trade of griffin and Bledsoe); if they do we may very well lose.

I don't think that the Lakers are confident that Dwight will sign with them even with D'Antoni fired and maybe even with Phil Jackson coaching. If they knew 100% sure that firing D'Antoni and replacing him with Phil is sufficient to make Dwight re-sign, they would have fired him already like the Clippers did with their own coaching situation.

Jim Buss doesn't want to end up having committed to paying 3 coaches (D'Antoni, Brown and Phil or whoever they hire) and ceding power to the Phil-Jeanie camp unless he knows that the Lakers get Dwight out of the deal.

Is Dwight enough for Jim to cede power to the Phil-Jeanie camp?
