Look, we know the Rockets either had to get a Euro player that was worthy of a 1st round pick who was already planning on staying overseas next season.

Report came out today, that almost all of the top 10 Euro prospects were wanting to come to the NBA next year.... even Giannis..... whatever his name is.

The Rockets did not want to draft a player with a cap hold in the 1st round that would make signing Dwight in a week that much more difficult to accomplish. So finding a deal that made sense tonight wasn't something that was ever going to be easy to find on such a short timeframe on draft night.

It really shouldn't be a HUGE surprise to anyone that he wasn't traded tonight even though It sounded like there were offers out there that were reported. The players that were falling to those pick spots probably had more to do with the deals not getting done than it did not having any offers at all.

More than likely I would assume they will turn to future picks either in the 2nd round or with high protection. They might already have a deal in place to get a pick like that next week when they move into July when teams will have more cap space to take on his salary.

Also keep in mind Dwight can meet and agree in principle to sign with Houston, and then Houston has around a week to construct a deal to move Robinson & maybe Royce.

So... There is time folks. No need to dump Robinson for someone like Timmer or whatever his name is at the 60th pick just to get the cap space right this second. The offers will probably still be there in 3 days.

I'm referring to expectations. We were supposed to have traded Thomas Robbinson tonight... the word "imminent" led me to believe we were going to trade him.

Most expected something...nothing happened...I hope the Dwight saga turns out different.

If you think we are a championship contender with the Parsons, Harden, Asik line up you might want a reality check.

Agreed. Obviously getting DH would be a major upgrade...BUT..to make moves just for the sake of, is not at all bright.

Morey doesn't take .35 on the dollar.

Morey gets $1.35 for the dollar, or keeps the dollar.

Sharks don't give discounts for those in need.

TRob could still be dealt and if so, alllll good....but for a lack of chance/opportunity player with potential to be WAY better over time..PLUS he has world class athleticism....you gotta get value for that...or you hold.

It was also believed that the Rockets would take a foreign player to stash overseas if they got the pick. However, by the time the 19th pick rolled around Gobert and Karasev were the only two players left that the Rockets allegedly had interest in and Karasev's people had made it seem like he wasn't interested in staying overseas for another year.

I'm not disagreeing with the definition of "imminent". I'm disagreeing with how reasonable you feel that other teams deem Robinson as worthless. I don't share the same outlook on his future as you. Offers were made tonight, but the organization decided to stand pat. This could have been dictated by the simple fact of which players were left on the board.

I have 3 questions. How much cap room would we have if we traded Robinson? Lin and or Omer? Let go of Brooks and Delfino?

Completely agree. You put together the idea much better than my attempt.

Uhhh guys... Remember earlier when Bima said not to be surprised if TROB isn't traded on draft night because we could probably get a protected future first for him? Remember when Bima also said that the market for Robinson would be much wider on July 1st? I do.

This. Plus, teams like .... THE CELTICS and PHILLY are making trades tonight that will open up cap space for rebuild projects. There are multiple teams that would be great fits for Thomas Robinson but need to work on finalizing other trades first.

I don't remember this specifically but after reading through Bima's tweets, I do agree with this. Here's one of his tweets:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/JayRodYourHole">@JayRodYourHole</a> I'm actually somewhat glad. More options on July 10 when teams get cap room. Plus, would rather have pick in 2014 or beyond.</p>&mdash; David Weiner (@BimaThug) <a href="https://twitter.com/BimaThug/statuses/350462019754926082">June 28, 2013</a></blockquote>

Why do we care about salaries so much? It's not like we're paying for the players. In fact, Rockets will probably never win anything unless they're willing to spend to get pieces.

You are either new to team sports or a complete moron. Probably both.

    Morey -

    "We are 100% confident"

-referring to the ability to make the "moves" necessary to clear cap space for a max free agent

I think the rockets did not pull the trigger tonight for that very reason. Also one of the reasons we are going to Orlando is so we can create some buzz around Robinson as soon as possible rather then wait for vegas.

When did he say this? While there might be more options for the TRob market after July 10, doesn't that hinder the chances of offering or landing a max contract?
