Any deal where LMA ends up a Rocket will require a third team, like Utah, to take assets like Lin off our hands (and give young PFs and/or picks to POR). A straight up deal w/ POR for LMA is near impossible unless they want us to rob them or we start giving redundant assets that are just too good to pass up (like all our young PFs + picks + Asik + Parsons...but seriously, who the eff would do that???)

Yeah...you would probably have to do some tweaking to make it legit but this is the only way I see Aldridge coming to us while addressing every teams needs involved and salary situation. I do think lin to Utah works but I wont touch that!!

I don't believe we'd have to move Lin.

Asik/DMo/2014 first rounder/2016 first rounder/plus whatever pick we get for TRob/plus one of GSmith or Tim Ohlbrecht....that's more than Chicago can give Portland. Any other team that can give more than us has to be able to give up more and still remain a contender. Otherwise he walks in 2 seasons.

2 seasons is still a very long time. And I don't think Portland would do that when they have all the leverage.

I like it...salaries work out?? I would think Portland would want Monte to replace T.jones because he is basically j.Smith lite .

I think he can be traded for but it will take creativity.

Josh Smith, he's a free agent last time I checked. Can't see him wanting to go to a rebuilding job in Portland.

Your right. Also the rockets arent just going to be giving up Omer Asik. ATL will certainly ask for Parsons. You cant take a franchise player without giving up much. To get a lot you have to give a lot.

    T. Jones is from Portland, so he might have a little local appeal.

Will we still go after LMA if we do or don't get Howard?

Sounds like an awful deal if the TrailBlazers are actually trying to rebuild.

Hmm... A deal to make room for Dwight? With Aldridge Griffin is very expendable - the question is: can the Clips provide enoug pieces to make both Atlanta and the Lakers happy? Bledsoe is a given, but after that? Crawford?

The sound on the grapevine is that LMA wants to leave Portland, in which case the TrailBlazers don't have a lot of leverage to get maximum value for him.

Still under contract for 2 more years. Surely they can do better than getting DeAndre Jordan(who is also under contract for 2 more years)

I disagree. They aren't in a rush. It isn't like he's walking next offseason. He's got 2 yrs left, and LMA isn't the type that seems to just fold if he isn't auto-traded. He'll probably still put up 21-8 for you every night, even if disgruntled.

They'll want to move him sooner than later, but I don't think they have to force it and get a bad deal. They can milk it.

Good point. But, at least in my opinion, they can much better pieces than Jordan for a rebuilding project. Taking on a low-ceiling, bad contract guys isn't a great way to start.

Morey should be working harder to land Aldridge rather the Howard IMO. Fits better with Harden having had experience playing with Roy in his hey day and probably could be had for money long term, meaning more flexibility.

If we don't get Howard, we shouldn't go after him.
That's because we will probably have to give up Asik and a lot more for him.
LMA can only be successful along with Asik in the front court.
