Please name some social change organizations -- that are not charities -- that are apolitical.

Shocking - totally shocking - that Issa is clowning around. Turns out his own witnesses' statements don't fit his claims when you actually see their entire transcripts. I love that Issa is complaining that releasing transcripts will prejudice the process, while himself releasing very limited, misleading transcripts that try to prejudice the process.

Cummings should just go ahead and release the entire transcripts.

Oops! I see that he did! Well at least one interview.

Exactly which is why I answered okierock in the other thread that at least some of these "scandals" are actually made up by people from the GOP.

I just want to take a minute to post thanks to Elijah Cummings who posted the entire transcript rather than just certain statements that could be spun into a political agenda.

What's scary is that Issa had all of this information and didn't release it despite his claim that he would.

I wonder if poor Bobmarley who was really invested in this scandal is upset that Representative Issa who had information all along showing it wasn't a scandal let people like Bobmarley be mislead for all this time.

Are there any people who bought into the white house scandal angle upset about this?

I'm shocked that the scandaloid posse has yet to post this.

    http://news.yahoo.com/irs-chief-inappropriate-screening-broad-193046792.html

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Internal Revenue Service's screening of groups seeking tax-exempt status was broader and lasted longer than has been previously disclosed, the new head of the agency said Monday.

An internal IRS document obtained by The Associated Press said that besides "tea party," lists used by screeners to pick groups for close examination also included the terms "Israel," ''Progressive" and "Occupy." The document said an investigation into why specific terms were included was still underway.

So it is sounding like the deck was stacked on the report a bit since Issa specifically requested a review of actions targeting conservative groups not progressive. I hope he requests a similar investigation of IRS actions toward progressive groups.

Issa's pretty lucky that we have bigger things to worry about like domestic spying so that we don't focus on his overblown scandal-whoring.

It's hilarious that Issa's now claiming he never said that the White House was behind the IRS investigations of the groups.

I feel bad for those that bought into Issa's BS.

Issa really should be removed from the oversight committee chair.

Issa should be answering, not asking, more questions

Did Issa try to deliberately mislead news organizations and the public with selectively edited portions of information he knew to be incomplete?

Did Issa violate congressional ethics rules by using his chairmanship to cherry-pick misleading quotes from official transcripts?

mc mark, I think you are going a bit overboard. There is no need to turn this into a witchhunt/media circus. People just need to realize this was just a dude who made a series of dumb errors due to partisanship.

Each scandal needs it's own oversight commitee. Issa shouldn't be responsible for ALL of them.

There might not be so many scandals if Issa wasn't manufacturing at least some of them such as this IRS one.

I don't think so. It's been pretty well proven that he hasn't been forthcoming with pretty much every investigation he has started. Plus, he made it clear back in 2010 that he would lead unlimited investigations until he found something on the Obama administration.

"I want seven hearings a week, times 40 weeks,"

At what point do we say he has lost objectivity?

The best way to get the IRS back in line is to send the ranking IRS department heads (Miller, Lerner et al) to jail for five or more years for their roles in the use of the IRS for political purposes. I suggest throwing in a loss of pension and benefits for all the IRS employees who participated in political targeting so that the department -- and perhaps some others too like the GSA, NSA, CIA, State et al -- will get the message.

Next, during the next debt limit crisis talks in a few months, the House should push for a reduction of $100M (they wasted $50M on parties, p*rn and other entertainment this past year alone) from their budget immediately and blocking the $1.1B additional money they are requesting for 2014. Then in 2016 with a new president in power, let's eliminate the whole agency in favor of a flat tax that a few Treasury Department employees can process.

Except, in case you don't follow news outside of the right-wing blogs, none of this actually happened. You jumped on biased news to believe a scandal and now, not surprisingly, have been shown to be wrong yet again. You, of course, will just repeat this process with the next fake scandal you so desperately want to believe in.

Except that I have personal "experience" with IRS wrongdoings that corroborates Congressional investigators. You, sir, have been reading too many apologist / leftstream media outlets.

So you have a personal ax to grind such that you lack objectivity in regard to the IRS. That is what I read into your post.
