Stop trolling. I swear we've had this convo before and have gone back and forth, w/ stats supporting the case for JSmith very well, particularly for his defensive contributions. Is there an argument that his BB IQ is really low and that somehow OVERWHELMS all his contributions on the defense, even though he is not a net negative on offense? I guess...but it isn't so clear cut that one could say our pursuit of JSmith as a secondary or third option is insane.

The argument I'm making is that you're wrong.

Woah, ok. This is definitely good news for the Rockets. They're standing firm on keeping Dantoni, I guess they really believe he isn't signing with them.

That was a big statue in Dallas (by 6 flags, I think) that burned down in 2012.

So, how to read this cryptic Doc Rocket message? Dallas is a smokescreen? Dallas up in flames? Dallas hot on the hunt? Hmmm.....

Agree 100%. And he is totally right about D'Antoni's system but it IS fun watching the MFFLs and Rocketheads go gleep over every morsel of news about this loser.

It really doesn't make sense. So far everything is pointing towards Houston.

I get that you are saying that. It doesn't change the fact that Josh Smith, while a good defender, would be detrimental to the offense. He'd be a lot better if he realized that he is terrible at shooting, but for some reason he thinks he's an awesome shooter as evidenced by him jacking it up from long range over and over again every single game. It is funny though that everyone jumped on the idea of playing Asik and Howard together because neither have a midrange shot, yet seconds later bring up Josh Smith as a possibility completely ignoring the fact that he's not significantly better at shooting than Howard or Asik.

I don't think Dantoni would be hiring assistants if he was nt assured of his job.

? Smith is significantly better than Asik at shooting, as I posted the stats to this train of thought last night. He just isn't good enough to warrant all the midrange shots he continues to take.

But even then, you realize that via RAPM this yr AND last yr, Josh Smith's ORating is NOT negative, and more importantly, is WELL eclipsed by his defensive contributions/DRating, right? Though last yr he was much more beast than this previous season.

But the point I'm making is that in our pick and roll focused offense all he would be doing is finish above the rim, which is his strong suit. With two extremely talented pick and roll guards in Lin and Harden he would blossom in that role. It wouldn't be a situation where he would be allowed to chunk up bad shots. You have to trust that daryl will instruct the coaching staff to not let him take those kind of shots like he did in Atlanta. His ability to finish as well as his elite level defense and friendship with Dwight are ample reason to bring him in.

    He's about a 30% shooter from midrange and a 28% shooter from 3. He's a terrible shooter.
