I have seen analysts who rate Josh Smith as the best perimeter defender in the league. If Morey wants Josh Smith than I want Josh Smith.

Listen your point has come across, you can stop trying to hammer it home. You classify Smith as simply a "chucker" who is "not worth the money." Despite him being an elite defender, and a great pick and roll finisher. And an extremely close friend of Dwight Howard.

if the lakers dont fire D'antoni then i would point to the REAL reason why Dwight left being Kobe. I mean if the Lakers truly felt that if they got rid of D'antoni they would be able to keep Dwight for sure - they would have already. They probably know if he leaves the primary reason is Kobe and not D'antoni - and they aren't going to get rid of Kobe anytime soon, not to mention Kobe saying he wants to play 3-4 more years - then it makes complete sense to keep D'antoni and not have to pay 3 coaches while only employing one.

Trying to bring back Phil was to not mend the relationship between Dwight and his coach but Dwight and Kobe -- Phil's greatest strength BY FAR was his ability to sooth and manage egos NOT his Xs and Os.

All this hoopla of billboards and all - are just an effort to show fans they are trying, but if they really were they would be starting to do all this weeks ago right after their playoff run ended. They have had the chance to openly appease Howard for a month with no competition but they chose to do it just a few days before EVERY other team could? Seems like a complete half-assed effort to me.

IMO there isn't any mainstream analyst out there I enjoy more than Legler. If Legler is saying Houston is that much of the clear choice for a star like Howard to go to in free agency, Houston has no shame if Dwight Howard decides to go to another team.

The Rockets are eventually going to get a star to come play in Houston to compete for a title. I Howard doesn't want to be here, than I really dont want him here anyways.

So much for Mike D'Antoni "holding off" on hiring assistant coaches.

Lakers add Mark Madsen to coaching staff

While signs continue to point to free-agent-to-be big man Dwight Howard likely heading to Houston as a free agent next month, a person with knowledge of the situation said Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni is adding former Lakers forward Mark Madsen as an assistant coach

This shows us MDA isn't going anywhere.
