in the universe where it makes the difference between dwight coming here and dwight going elsewhere. Smoove and Dwight are very good friends. Played on the same AAU team.

Don't expect an extended free agency process with Dwight. A source close to DH tells me that he will sign the first day available - July 10

    That's good to hear.

If that is what it would take to get Dwight here, I wouldn't want him to come here.

I'm sure cybrex can answer this on his own, but I would assume it probably means Fagan talks to him directly since he can reach the largest audience(being in front of mainstream cameras at ESPN), but there is probably an agenda whenever he does.

I have no doubt that Broussard does have contacts with agents and players around the league, but I do question the motive every single time he opens his mouth of tweets. There always seems to be an agenda.

    Yeah I don't post much.

I asked over at LG about 3 weeks ago if MDA had hired his assistants yet, I got no answers. I thought this was key. Now Cyberx brings it up. Interesting I knew that would be a "tell" on how likely the Lakers would give in and fire MDA. I would feel MUCH better about our chances if he had recently hired his full staff.

I have a feeling, that the pick we get from Robinson will not remain a Rocket's pick. I can see Morey packaging it with Royce to be A) be done with Royce B) have max offer available. Two birds with one stone. I think that's another option other than the "draft and stash." Another is trading the 1st rounder for a couple second rounders. We are after all, going to need 15 players.

I would. He is an elite defender and his role as a PnR finisher I would also consider elite. Yeah he does chuck up some shots, but I think that can be fixed in an offense like ours. A Dwight/J Smoove frontcourt would be stout defensively, but that's pretty obvious. If he's the difference between dwight staying and going I say get him. Dwight is THAT valuable.

Let me ask this. How much cap room does Dallas have? By shedding Marion's contract, and Dirk supposedly taking a pay cut, how much would they have then? How can we get a better starting PF with the little money we'd have after signing Dwight?

I am not too threatened by Dallas because we have the better sales pitch than they do. Now I just heard Chris Broussard (yes I know "multiple sources") say that Dwight wants to be somewhere were his talents are used. In other words, he doesn't want a star PF with him. He wants to be the only man in the post. A question we should ask ourselves is, can we win a championship with Terrence Jones at PF? Or D-Mo at PF?

This tells me he has an idea of where he wants to go. We need to be the last to pitch to him, though.

80% of this thread is gnashing of teeth over Dallas. The Dallas thing is obviously just cover for media, as is the playing style issue.

Phil Jackson can barely walk anymore, much less coach an NBA team.

I don't know what Dwight will decide, but I would bet a paycheck or two that he's not going to Dallas, that he is not really concerned about Houston's playing style, and that Phil Jackson will never be a full-time NBA coach again.

Lakers can't fire Dan-Tony now or they would look pathetic. They had a chance to do it immediately after the season, but didn't.

All these things favor the Rockets and we haven't even talked about the real advantages Houston has in terms of players, future, etc.

I thought July 1st was the day FA can sign? Or is it just the day you can meet with them.

I could see the angles from the agents perspective. Another angle is wanting leverage by creating multiple suitors. Dallas could have been pulling away from trading Shawn Marion to get the capspace needed. I could see Fagan feeling uncomfortable with Dallas not at least being in the mix for Dwight come Monday morning because of the lack of cap space. Maybe this was a push for them to get the Marion deal done since they still need to be in the race for some reason.

Who knows, but if Im Fagan I can see the angles. The other obvious angle is forcing the Lakers into firing MDA, and going after Phil. Still dont know how Dallas fits into the equation there, but could be a side-relation.

There are few people out there that actually get to speak with Dwight personally about this matter... maybe family, close friends, and other players. 99% of what someone (agent, media, front office) would hear & report would have to be coming from Fagan and their agency with some sort of agenda.
