My posts are poorly written? Wow. Do you have 'boil' as part of your username because you're a pot?

If my arguments were that flawed, then you could have countered them fairly quickly.

You walked into this one ;)

Seriously though, it's about experience more than anything. You don't need Tony Parker, but you also can't go with someone with little playoff experience at such an important position. A big reason someone like Beverely was able to step in is because he's been playing a lot in Russia in hostile environments and pressure situations, not that Lin hasn't, but I don't think it's comparable to what Bev has played through. Lin will be fine with time, but we can't really afford to wait, not with DH.

By solid i meant with playoff experience. Bad wording on my part, but again, i made the distinction earlier. I know he's talented, but that's not all there is to it. We've got superstars who have trouble adjusting to the playoffs right away, so i'm not sure why people think it's crazy for Lin to have trouble. Instead of seeing it as Lin-bashing, they should see it for what it is, a common occurrence in the league.

Is BEV able to pick and roll with Dwight?

If anyone other than Harden isn initiating PnR's with Howard, then that is a fail.

This team needs a pure shooting, elite defender at PG, not someone to run the PnR.

you saw it time and time again, we're at our best when the ball is moving and open shots are getting to the hands of our players. Our balls don't get 'sticky' because lin is going one on five. a point guard needs to be able to run the offense.

i guess your cognition or level or reading comprehension are on the same level as your spelling and grammar because boil in my username has everything to do with a pot. Sarcasm much? LOL "do you have boil as part of your username because you're a pot"? Wow. are you a 9 year old that just thought of that come-back?

an example of your concentric arguments is how you'll reply and say, "well i meant this...i meant that..." just above, you twisted the main argument about lin being solid with another poster by adding "i meant solid with playoff experience." anybody can continuously come back and say, "well i meant" to alter their stance. i remember doing that....oh, i don't know....when i was 9?!?! you're arguments are grammar-equivalents to run-on sentences. they're easy to point out and rebuke but like i said in a prior post, it's a waste of breath because you'll just amend your argument with something else that changes your basis and it'll just run on and on and eventually off onto another tangent. or you'll just say, "well, i meant."

lin's played solid throughout a large sample with regular season games that were very competitive...some with playoff implications/environments. he got the knicks to the playoffs but didn't play in that because of injury so that playoff is moot. mike bibby did though so he must be solid with playoff experience. lol (again sarcasm in case you couldn't sense it). lin played less than 2 full games uninjured during the rocket's playoffs and prior to injury, he wasn't performing like dirt. the first game everyone sucked @ss so feel free to lay the blame all around. just because beverley had a nice run in place of lin for most (not even all) of the playoffs means he's solid? uh...sample size? if anything take a larger sample and rate beverley's pg play against lin's starting from the time beverley came in during the regular season (shooting%, types of passes, assists, steals, running offense). his water bug defense and some nice blocks here and there don't make you a great pg. i like beverley a lot and i always root for the underdog but he doesn't attack the rim and create his own shot like lin does. danny green shot out of his mind and broke ray allen's record for 3 pointers in a playoff. does that mean he's more playoff solid as a 3 pointer than ray allen? ummm....obviously not. you walked into this one.

kid, you're getting lawyered by everyone on this thread within the last few pages.

I don't think it is, but what i think doesn't matter. It's Dwight's decision. I'm looking at it from his perspective. Obviously I can't know exactly what he's thinking, but people are looking at this like he is predictable and he really hasn't been. If he thinks he can influence the FO because of who he is and their need to have him, then to him it may look like a better situation. Everyone talks about the pressure the Lakers have to be a good team, so I don't think it's far fetched to think they'd cater to Dwight to keep him. Remember, this is the same team who said they weren't firing Mike Brown, and literally the next day he was fired. They're desperate to make something work/happen. Houston is too, but we're not facing the pressure LA is.

Not a lakers fan and I don't even know what ABJ is, this thread is the first time i've seen it. What is it, being anti-Lin?

Maybe i'm just trying to be objective and look at all the angles from different perspectives, how about that?

From a business standpoint, I get why Lin is paid that much. From a pure basketball perspective, you can't deny he's paid a little more than he should be. The only two teams willing to battle it out for Lin's services at that price would have benefited greatly from sales. It's a business first, i understand. Great investment, but don't tell me on the court alone he was worth just over 8 mill this season. Maybe next year. The issue, like someone else pointed out, is that Beverley proved to be a capable starting point at a very cheap price. I'm not saying promote him now, but it's something to definitely keep an eye out for this season, as both continue to develop as NBA players and we incorporate new players.

    Asik had playoff experience.

Asik is a dying breed in the league.

Asik plays a spot we don't have a good back up for, if any really, as far as real centers go.

Asik plays a weaker position, so it's easier for him to produce more consistently.

Despite his offensive flaws, he was the second leading rebounder and number one in total rebounds in the whole league. That's not worth 8 mill a year?

Take a deep breath, stop looking this as a Lin bashing and look at everything else that is going on.

Lala Anthony prefers LA. Knicks aren't winning anything.

Amar'e can still be productive , even if not at an all-star level.

    Gortat isnt a productive center?

Gay's issues are not lack of talent, but mindset.

Lowry is disgruntled. He's not done.

And so on...point was, there are available options. They dont need these guys to be MVPs. We're not talking about #1 or # 2 two options, but complements to DH and Kobe (assuming he comes back strong, so far no set backs). And Pau still has good years left in him. People act like 14 and 12 is something to laugh at (playoff numbers).

More flexible? No, I didn't compare the flexibility of the two. I said DH may see the LA PG spot as having flexibility going forward, so he may feel more comfortable waiting that out than riding with Lin and Bev, if he thinks they can get a better and/or more experienced pg by then. Maybe he thinks Nash has more left in him. He asked for the Lakers last year, knowing about Nash's age and injury history, so perhaps he believes in him more than us fans?

Seriously now. You use Russian league experience as example to prove Bev > Lin? Really now....a new low is reached.

I used it to explain why Bev was able to step in, despite basically being a rookie in this league. I also implied it made him better prepared for playoff atmosphere. I didn't say it made him better than Lin, as a player.

You can be better prepped for the playoffs and not necessarily be a better or more talented player. (2013 Fisher is a perfect example). He came in for RW, despite being in decline, and knew exactly where to help the Thunder. He understood the important of pace and momentum, among other things. If it wasn't for him, we take them to 7 games.

I'm guessing you didn't get the pot reference...sigh.. and i'm the kid.

Again, I explained what solid meant to me earlier in this thread. I have to explain that i meant, now, because somewhere along the way it wasn't clear anymore to posters. Feel free to look it up. My post, that started all this, called Lin too inexperienced and because of that i didn't see him as a solid starting pg for a contender. Obviously, that means not solid enough for the playoffs and not as an NBA player alone.

You're just babbling on about something i'm not even discussing. What does a 3 pt record have to do with playoff experience?

Lawyered? More like misquoted and misundertood. Nothing new though. Jeremy Lin is a controversial topic around here. Can't really say anything remotely negative about him, without being labeled as a Lin-basher.

We get it you don't like Lin. You think he's so bad that Dwight won't want to come play here even though we have players like Harden, Parsons, and Asik.

i've said since the beginning. people shouldnt write off Lin until he is given the right circumstances to replicate linsanity.

1.) he should have the ball in his hands a lot more,
2.) he should pnr with a capable big
3.) he should take more mid range jumpers off the pick instead of only driving to the basket.

hopefully dwight signs and solves #2 instantly. at the same time the offense (and defense) will surely change to make use of his skillset so that might solve #1 and #3 by having a more varied offense.

I like Lin as a person very much. As a player, i think he's good with room to improve, but inexperienced.

Again, you're another example of people misquoting me and others take it as truth. I never said he was "so bad" DH wouldn't want to come here. My argument isn't about Lin being bad, but about his inexperience at the playoff level. That may be a reason for dwight to stay away, since the pg spot is very important for contenders.

Also, the latest reports have him showing strong interest in Dallas, so we can't assume it's just our PG spot over LA's. Dallas has Roddy and Collison. And Mike James.

That last one was a joke, of course.

Typical ABJer. Lol don't worry man I think you make some solid points. I still think the biggest reason to move Lin has less to do about Lins skill and experience and more to do with his replaceability with a MUCH cheaper option in Bev that would aid in bolstering the roster in other areas of need by the freed up cap space.

What's ABJ stand for? I haven't really discussed Lin in a while, so this thread is the first time i remember seeing that.

I think RV6 is being reasonable and you kept your cool from some of the provoking response.

And your argument is valid, it was a shame to see Lin's playoff performance tainted by the first game. But banking it on Beverley is questionable too. Yea he is cheap, yea he is servicable for DH and Harden, but we haven't seen him play a full year as a starter, what make you think he could do better than Lin from a stretch of 70+ games? Just curious.

 Barreling into the opposing team's star player and taking him out for the remainder of the season is not playoff production. Beverly was mediocre in that series (but he was better than Brooks). We got those two wins entirely from Harden, Parsons, Garcia & Asik.
