Who wouldn't want to play alongside a 35-yr old Dirk and 36-yr old Vince Carter?

Im afraid that Dwight is going to drag his A@$ around for at least a month in free agency and hold the entire NBA hostage until he finally makes his decision, changes his mind, makes another decision, then changes, then signs with a team, but then tries to force a trade immediately to another team all in the month of July.

I dont hate Dwight Howard the player, and I will be glad if he signs in Houston, but if he's doesn't I will be more than happy to continue with the team the Rockets have, and look to add another piece later down the line. This guy and his mgmt are ruthelessly trying harder than anyone else to create the absolute most hated athlete in all of sports.

This **** is getting tiring. He's a diva and will complain about touches in our system too if he's complaining about Kobe. I wouldn't be upset if he stayed in LA.

Last year. Houston was #1, then a few days later we were just on his list. I know you remember.

Did he expect us to give Asik and Motiejunas touches?

Dwight would have still been blamed for the firing of Dantoni, even during the regular season. He, like Chris Paul, will always carry that stigma with them wherever they go.

The ship has sailed to avoid the appearance that Dwight is a coach killer and the Lakers are cow-towing to him.

My question to that is... So what?

I don't see that having any affect on the decision of these two parties. If Dwight wants to be in LA, he'll tell them what they need to do for it to happen, and they'll do it. If Dwight doesn't want to be in LA, he's not going to give them that ultimatum. It all hinges on whether Dwight wants to be in LA or not.

    Appearances schmappearances.

Not like this. Honestly, the Lakers didn't even make the playoffs until the last game of the season, then were immediately swept. Given their talent, it was a massively underachievment. Dwight would've been seen as part of the reason, but it would not have been a shock to anyone to see D'Antoni go after the year.

At this point, after repeatedly backing him in public settings, it'd be complete lunacy, and not a single person close to the Lakers has even suggested it as a remote possibility.

Some of this isn't really Dwight's doing. It's people like Chris Broussard who write crap like this that irritate us. For all we know Broussard is making all of this up, or blowing up some small comment that someone else heard Dwight say a month ago. Only thing we've heard Dwight say is that he will meet with teams in July.

Huh? Dwight never showed any interest in Houston whatsoever.

Phil Jax is the only major chip the Lakers have. But has there ever been a reasonable explanation of why they didn't take him over D'Antoni in the first place? Even if D'Antoni got along better with Jim Buss, that doesn't seem like enough, when it's obvious that Jackson is a better coach and is more popular with fans. Jackson can sell tickets. D'Antoni doesn't.

My completely unsubstantiated guess is that there is something about Phil that made Jim Buss very concerned, e.g. he has a health problem that makes him unreliable (which Phil has indirectly suggested). Those kinds of problems usually get worse with time, not better. If they want to bring back Phil, they would also need to convince Dwight that such a problem would be fixable.

Houston was #1 in many fans minds last year because of what the Rockets could offer Orlando. For Dwight we weren't even a consideration, and in fact reports said that if we traded for him, he would not consider resigning. If he comes to the Rockets now, he will be doing it because he wants to be here, and with Harden here and the way things worked out last year for each team that is a reasonable change of heart. Of course I certainly wouldn't bet money on any out come with Dwight or claim to know what he is going to do. I don't even know if Dwight knows what he is going to do yet.

Actually we did - especially early in games Asik usually got 2-3 post ups (and did surprisingly well). Now just imagine if we actually had a player with a post game? Of course we would feed him the ball! Plus with all the penetration he will get lots of open looks and put backs (that whole sentence sounded wrong).

We probably won`t stop running, but he still should get 10-15 shots per game with huge rebounding numbers.

I find the part about the Rockets style of play complete BS. I'm pretty sure if he had issues with it, he would've brought it up with Parsons/Harden who would then explain they had no low post scorer.

Broussard is as reliable as a twig.

If he cared so much about being the man, he will be with the Lakers in a year or two. If he wanted to be on an aging roster with potential capspace, he could stay with the Lakers. Dallas is not even in this discussion.

Dwight wants to win. If he didn't, and just wanted to be an entertainer he would never have forced a trade out of Orlando.

    It's either LA or Houston

I'd have liked it if we gave Motiejunas some more touches in the post, he has crazy good moves but he was rushing them. He's going to be a really really good player going forward.

They won't do this. If they wanted to do this, it would be done by now. The season ended in April for the Lakers and it's now late June. They knew how Dwight felt about D'Antoni then.
