Then you're ridiculous, because the odds of D'Antoni throwing away millions and millions by stepping down is about 0.0000%. He's not an idiot. If the Lakers want rid of MDA, they have to fire him. That's why coaches sign contracts.

Phil is not enough to take Lakers over the hill.

Lakers is smart to arrange it at last minute though, since it'll give DWH an dramatic impression. If they do it earlier, DWH would have time to realize it's not enough for them to win...

Dwight drama continues. If he doesn't want to be in Houston, it's fine with me.
We are a young team, we need leadership plus talent.

BREAKING NEWS: It's between the Lakers, Dallas and Houston. Dwight doesn't like MDA. Houston is best situation basketball wise.

OH WAIT SAME **** DIFFERENT DAY. Wake me up when he signs because this is Young and the Restless style.

I think Lakers is afraid of DWH jumping ship even if Phil is back. They would probably only do it if there's a promise from DWH. Otherwise it'll look very ugly for everyone including MDA, Phil, frontoffice of the Lakers organization.

Yes, when he was still a marketable coach and inevitably would soon get another job. In that context, it can make sense to step down to avoid the stigma of "being fired".

In this case, after a year of character assassination? Come on. This is his last gig for quite a while, possibly ever. He has to get everything he can from it.

Seems to me if the Lakers were going to fire D'Antoni to appease Dwight, they would've done it already. It's no secret Dwight wasn't a fan of him. I can't see a prideful Lakers organization firing a coach to appease a player not named Kobe.

Even if he 'resigns', everyone will know the reason behind it was Dwight.

No reason to do it until absolutely necessary.

Once Dwight gives them the ultimatum, MDA is as good as gone.

The question is, will Dwight ever give them that ultimatum, or does he ultimately want to be somewhere else?

Did u guys hear what he said?

I'm very confident that the rockets will get him if "multiple sources" is right.

He just put Dallas up front (slightly) because Howard was iffy about our system. ( which would be understandable) all we did was run!!

Of course we want an inside-out game with Dwight..... We wouldn't leave him out of the offense at all.

Morey and Mchale can convince him of that. Harden would love a second option, he better be there too pleading his case.

Dallas offers what lakers offer( old superstar, old team, and 2014 "hope")

Big difference. He left with less than half a season remaining on his deal.

He has 2 years left in LA and $8M. Also not as likely to be sought as a head coach after back to back disappointing stints in which he clashed with all-star players.

Funny how everybody makes fun of Broussard and thinks he's less credible than Allen Iverson's bank account and most of it is pretty common knowledge. We all should know by now, if the Lakers give Dwight what he wants, he stays.

I don't understand why rarely anyone considers the fact that with a roster change, a style change is in order. I doubt the Rockets are trying to pigeonhole star players into this "playing to the numbers" type style they used last season.

Good organizations change based on the talent they have, and I have no doubt that the Rockets would do the same if they bring Howard here and have a different roster.
