Houston receives: LaMarcus Aldridge Portland gets: Josh Smith, Terrence Jones, 2015 1st rd pick from HOU Atlanta acquires: Omer Asik Who says no?
How is Houston not involved? I'm sure Morey is jumping all over this and seeing what the going price is.
Aldridge > Howard Better character, desire to win. Texas guy. Spend the "max" money on Josh Smith & the bench and trade for him. Asik, a PF or two, some picks we acquire. Lin/Beverley Harden/Tony Allen Parsons/Garcia Josh Smith/Jones, Donatas, T Rob or WHA Aldridge/Smith
If Houston does indeed get LMA, then I'm doing everything in my power to keep Lin. Lin working the pick and roll with a guy who can consistently knock down a 20ft jumper is great for that offense.
LeMarcus Aldridge wants out of Portland BAD!!! LaMarcus Aldridge has wanted out of Portland since the last week of the Trail Blazers' season and did not resign sponsorship deals in Portland this past year, including agreements with Cadillac, Chevy, and Providence Hospital while asking to get out of a lease on his Pearl District condo. Aldridge tried to put a clause into his lease that he will not have to pay penalties if he was traded. “This is why I hate being in Portland,’’ Aldridge said during the last week of the season. “You can’t do anything.’’ According to the report, Aldridge would not only welcome a trade from the Blazers, but he hopes for one, believing the city is too boring and small. Neil Olshey said he sympathized with the constant change Aldridge has gone through with the Blazers, but the GM was adamant he would not be shopping the All-Star forward. “Well, I’ll tell you this: I’m not going to be making any phone calls to move him,’’ Olshey said. “But if the phone rings and it makes the team better ...’’ http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/i...ider_although_lamar.html#incart_flyout_sports The Blazers have J.J. Hickson cheap at the 4 and seem to desperately need a 5... Asik??? Asik + pieces such as TJones/Beverly and picks... Thoughts? A Potential Harden Parsons LMA D12 and Lin... is it too good to be true? If anyone can orchestrate this, its Darrell Mohry... Im sure other teams can offer more, but how many can offer a top young defensive anchor in Asik? Thoughts???????
If they really did decline the reported Minnesota and Cleveland offers then I'm not sure we can come close to matching what they want, even if we were to include Parsons.
I thought I had read about a Minnesota offer, now that I read back looks like it was just Cleveland. Point is the same though.
We don't have the "assets" to get LA. I suppose Asik would be attractive, but they'd have zero need for Lin, and absent that, I don't see how we'd have the cap room for DH. Hoping Bima can set us straight on this.
There's already a thread for this, and trade scenarios in the random trades thread. Here's the summary: They don't want Lin and they don't want Parsons. Asik and young pfs/picks aren't enough by conventional wisdom but may work after we sign Dwight and if Portland feels more pressure from something somehow. There you go.
1:They wouldn't want Parson's, the NBA's best contract? I highly doubt that. There is not that much difference talent wise between Batum and Parsons, but there is a $80 Million dollar plus difference... this could make Batum expendable, and I can see him being moved. Why wouldn't Portland want to do this? I doubt any team can offer the chance to make Batum dispensable. 2:I have a hard time believing that a small town market like Portland wouldn't want someone with a Global influence such as Lin. 3:Need I remind you that we flipped jeremy lamb and kevin martin for harden... that goes against the aforementioned conventional wisdom you seem to think would be involved when Daryl Morey rapes other Gms.
1. They have Batum under contract for 3 more years so why rent Parsons for a year (even if he's a bargain) for giving up LMA? 2. They have Lillard on a rookie contract. That's all that needs to be said about their PG situation. 3. If you read my posts in the Random Trades thread then you'd see that there has been lots of talks about the LMA trade and many outlining an Asik + dmo/tjones/rwhite/gsmith + picks and I'd absolutely love for that to happen after/if we sign Dwight. It's still not likely, especially with Aldridge having two more years on his contract (no leverage), as opposed to Harden who only had one.
Trade Asik plus almost every power forward on the Rockets roster. Only give up Terrence Jones if we absolutely have to.
Blazers want a center that can protect the post defensively Because Meyors Leonard is soft in the paint, and are looking at getting DeanDre Jordan in a trade, and we all know Omer Asik is a lot better than Deandre. Trade Asik Royce White, and other bums to the Blazers for LaMarcus.
1- Parsons is under contract for 2 more years, wouldn't necessarily be a rental. 2- No doubt Lillard is the man there, but having Lin backup instead of eric maynor would be a huge improvement... but lets face it, if ANYONE is interested in Lins services, it wouldn't be for his potential as a backup or starter, its the market and fans they would gain IMMEDIATELY. Portland would salivate at the idea of gaining fans. 3- Their center would be Myers leonard... they could def improve with Asik. I know this dream trade scenario of obtaining LMA (after D12 of course) is highly unlikely... but the acticle states that LMA doesnt want to be in a rebuilding scnerio either... when teams rebuild, they have a firesale. I would bet they want out of paying Batum $80.
Lets look at the competition... Lakers - the can trade Pau gasol for LMA + fillers Clippers - The can trade DeAndre\crawford \barnes\odom Knicks - they can give stoudamire\copeland\martin\camby Brooklyn - lopez\humphries\wallace\evens\blatche\ Mavericks - Chris Kaman\brand\Mayo Houston - Asik\T.Tob\Dmo\GregSmith\Jones which one is more attractive?
