If we were to sign Howard, what do you guys think about a Garnett for Asik swap? I've done the math and it evens out. I think Garnett would waive his no trade clause to play for Mchale who he has a very close relationship with. I think Garnett's leadership and defensive intensity would fit very well with this team. If we sign Dwight, Asik would be relegated to back up Dwight (unless you feel both can coexist at the same time, which is a different argument entirely). I feel like we would be better served to take two years of Garnett. They both have two years left on their contract, and when it expires, I could see them using it to resign Parsons as that is when he is up for a new contract. I think a lineup of Lin, Harden, Parsons, Garnett, Howard is championship caliber, and would definitely be excited about the possibilities. What do you think?
Nup. Not worth it. How old is Garnet? What's his upside? Can we build a dynasty with him? I'd rather keep Asik... awesome upside, currently the second best rebounder in the league (behind Dwight) and not too shabby rim protector.
I don't think that would be a good trade for the Rockets, if we get DH we'd need at least a couple of years to gel and become a dominant team and by that time Garnet would probably be retired.
I think with experience and time you will reflect back on your very first post on clutchfans with shock and awe that you would have suggested something this ridiculous.
STOP MAKING THESE THREADS Omer Asik Averaged a double double in his first season as a starter and hes only 26! There are only a few centers in the LEAGUE that are better than OMER. Thus his trade value is HIGH. Kevin Garnett is one year away from retiring, this is NOT GONNA HAPPEN. I'm tired of you people trying to trade Omer for a bag of peanuts just because we might get Howard!
I would do it. KG still has game and Dwight would probably really benefit from a professional like him to play alongside. It would be different type situation from LA where D12 was the youngest of the starters. In this case he becomes veteran leadership and I think an experienced big like KG would go a long way. I love Asik and don't really want to lose him, but if it netted KG I'd do it in a NY second. The Celtics are in full rebuild and Doc Rivers has split. Morey is a former executive with the Celtics and has probably already made that call. I know it's unpopular with the OOF (Omer Only Fans) but I think a lineup with Lin, Harden, Parsons, KG, and D12 would go a long way.
I honestly don't think it would be a bad deal. Garnett is a culture changer that leaves his fingerprints on players. He would give us a swagger and toughness that would last after his retirement.
