When D-Mo was drafted McHale said he would not be shooting threes in the NBA. It'll be interesting to see what D-Mo and Jones do when they allowed to operate closer to the basket, ie if Harden & Dwight replaces the focal points on offense of Harden & Lin and that backcourt is broken up.

When he was traded to the Rox those of us with eyes to see knew that TRob was just trade bate for D12; that his purpose on the team was to clear cap space, nothing more.

Bottom line TRob as a PF clogs the paint, and what the Rox need is a PF who will spread the floor. Common sense. That's basketball 101.

There were dozens, if not hundreds, of ClutchFans on this site who however kept talking and talking after the trade about TRob's wondrous "potential", how we need to "be patient" and how "awesome" this guy was going to be in the future. In the minds of many Clutchfans TRob was our starting PF come next season and a future all star even.

Now you can see how few others in the NBA share that opinion.

Why not resign Landry? He might be a free agent soon....

What you're mixing up is trade bait and potential. The two are not mutually exclusive.

I agree that all the trades at the deadline last year was to free cap room for a run at Dwight, Robinson included. Garcia had a team option, Honeycutt a very small partial guarantee. Morey obviously thought that Robinson's potential as a no.5 draft pick would make him easy to trade... and quite frankly it seems that way.

Sometimes the simple explanation is best...

Robinson is a no.5 draft pick with tremendous potential but hsn't been given the opportunity to develop under the Kings or Rockets situations he was placed in. The Rockets are simply trading him to create cap room to sign Dwight Howard. Every GM in the league would do the same to make a run at Dwight, it's not controversial, it's the smart thing to do. At the end of the day, basketball is a business. That's all there is to it.

It's pretty obvious Carl, The Rockets think he is worth more than what they were offered.

Just like Feigen said a couple of weeks ago - Morey doesn't want to trade TRob until after the draft and after Dwight commits. He kicked the tires these past few days, but didn't see any Eurostashe prospects he liked that would absolutely agree to sign the letter to stay overseas next year.

This is likely key. Basically for the trade to work tonight the following things must ALL happen at the pick the Rockets previously agreed to a trade with.

    1. A Euro player the Rockets want must be available.
    2. Said Euro player would agree to the Rockets arrangement of staying overseas for a year.
    3. The team we're trading TRob for must not have someone they like at that particular pick.

The odds that everything comes together perfectly is small. And likely the perfect storm did not arise, hence no trade. Not making the trade tonight has absolutely no bearing on whether Robinson's tradable or not.

But the rest of the league did not

So yeah our motivation was a stash player or a three way that still shed cap room. None of that happened. So we are back to trading him for future picks

But make no mistake. Carl Herrera was right about shedding him for a 2013 first rounder. The trade we all went crazy about "immently"

    So immensntly was definitely incorrect
