Rockets are NOT gonna help the Spurs. No way. TRob was just an asset with good potential but just that, an asset.

We don't need TRob cause were ready to contend. Stop being butthurt over TRob. If y'all want Rockets to stay average and keep developing young players, wish he stays, but if you're ready to be a playoff contender, wish Rockets get older. Quality over quantity.

Every GM misses picks in every single draft. We did not need to draft a roleplaying 3 during that draft. We needed to find a star, we missed, but so did everyone else drafting behind us (Tooting the same horn again, draft rights to Mirotic would have been the best pick at 14). Leonard is very solid, but we were not looking for solid.

If the Spurs want T-Rob.....maybe we should keep him.

TRob and Delfino for Garnett. Even just for a year. KG will be our Sheed Wallace that pushes us further in playoffs. KG would love to play for McHale and especially if we get Dwight.

    Lin
    Harden
    Parsons
    KG
    Dwight

One thing I've always wanted to ask Morey is if other team's actions regarding a player impacts his own valuation of that player.

Like, if the Spurs want a player or want to get rid of a player, does that change Morey's thinking about them.

I know every team misses in the draft, and I am not trying to bash Morey, just saying that decision belongs in his negatives column is all and that, if the Spurs get Robinson that it could create a very solid frontcourt for them of players that Morey either missed on or traded away. Further, I was saying that Morey made no mistakes on the Robinson trade(s) but that Kawhi was indeed a mistake. Not that he was a bad GM because he made the mistake, just that it, unlike the Robinson situation, was a mistake.

As far as the reasoning Morey used to make the mistake("We needed to find a star") , I thought at the time that the hyper athletic perfectly suited to a position Leonard had a much better chance of becoming a star than the position-less not big enough to be a 4 not fast enough to be a 3 Morris -- and it looks like reality is panning that out.

If t-rob is all that holds us up on giving Dwight the best offer, I'd buy him a MegaBus ticket to San Antonio in a flash.

KG has a "no trade" clause. Considering the relationship between KG & DH, IDK whether or not KG'd come to Houston, knowing we're all in to sign DH.

I think he has said before that it makes every GM think twice, but in the end, you have to stick to your plan because you're trying to get guys who fit your system. It goes back to what he said recently about a player's success depending a lot on opportunity and fit. Some guys do well on certain teams and not on others.

Ultimately what you want is a liquid, tradable pick with good value around the league in return for TRob.

If I'm Morey, the fallback option is a 2013 1st (to be used on a Euro-stash). The preferrable option would be a double protected pick in 2014. Say top 7 protected (declining to top 3 protected over 3 years) and "outside top 14" protected. Essentially the same thing we got for the Lowry trade.

Asik + 2014 pick + Rockets own 2014 and 2016 picks + a couple of Beverley/DMo/TJones might MIGHT get a deal done for a 3rd star, ASSUMING the star in question is "disgruntled" and near the end of their current contract. We would need lots of things to go our way.

I agree with this - right now, Parsons' stock is higher than Leonard's, even with Leonard's success on the Spurs (would he have had this much success on a tanking team?).

Asik and Trob for KG and Boston's 16th Pick

    Dwight or Bynum/G. Smith
    KG/Tjones
    Parsons/Giannis-draft and stash
    Harden
    Lin/Beverly

Or don't trade anyone. Just get Bynum for somewhat less than max.

What a bunch of weak-minded scared babies living in fear of the Spurs. That's how the likes of David Kahn thinks-- if a "smart team" wants to make a trade with me, it must be a bad trade for me!

Smart confident GMs make deals that fit their own purpose. If the other team benefits, or think that it benefit, then good, because it is supposed to.

Lightning is not striking three times for the Spurs. No Timmy or Admiral is walking through that door anytime soon. And Leonard is not capable of carrying that team in 2-3 years when Parker finally slows down. They will soon be middle of the pack and inconsequential.
