We already used amnesty on Scola. Can't amnesty anyone else.

Say what you will, but he was picked #5 overall yet was a liability on offense when he stepped on the floor. If he was worth anything, he wouldn't have been flipped twice in one year.

Not sure if it's been posted here, but on the "imminent" front, Feigen was on CSN earlier and said the Rockets were close, and that close means "by the draft". So we may still have two days to go.

Just my own personal opinion, but with this leaking through Feigen and no one with other teams, my suspicion is that the Rockets aren't thrilled with any of the offers they have and are putting out this "we're about to trade him!" story to try and get everyone's best offers. I asked Jason Lloyd, the excellent Cavs beat writer, and he said he heard two weeks ago that Cleveland had no interest in T-Rob (but he's checking to see if anything has changed). My guess is the Rockets are trying to stir one last wave of bids.

Looks like it was only imminent-ish.

i would definitely take that. i didnt know if you could get a trade exception and a pick but if you can then that is the perfect value for TRob at this point in time.

it was just the "part of a bigger trade" that was interesting to me bc it would mean another team and that could mean the rockets could get even more value for him.

I thought the Scola amnesty was necessary for Lin and Asik to both sign as FAs? Or was that wrong? I could've swore last offseason that without Scola coming off the books, we would've been unable to sign both to offer sheets.

IIRC, the Howard trade was still in effect following Lin/Asik, who combine make $17mil. Whereas Scola made 9 or 10mil.

Robinson is not trash. He will probably never become a 20/10 player, but he is a good defender and rebounder. He certainly can become a starter/rotation big in the NBA and with dedication a good one. If we were not going after Howard I highly doubt that we would be trading him. There is a reason San Antonio has interest.

I see Robinson being a Kenyon Martin type player

Yeah I agree, he's not someone to give up on just yet it's just that with the chance to get DH he's the most tradable asset that clears a decent amount of space. If DMo or TJones cleared 3.5 mil off the books then we'd be sending them off instead.

In the podcast today they talked about how much they like TRob and how hard he's been working and improving. Maybe that's posturing to give him more trade value but I doubt too many other league GMs are on ClutchFans >.>

Another point is that even though San Antonio is usually a good judge of talent, interest by them doesn't always mean the guy is going to be a hit. They did trade us Luis Scola for Vassilis Spanoulis.

I heard the Spurs are really keen on Robinson. Think he could be a star. Anyone heard of trade talk with the Spurs?

I was asking if we could still amnesty scola if we kept him. I thought there was a deadline based on when the player was signed, but it looks like:

    1) you get 1 amnesty
    2) it must be used on contracts signed before the new cba
    3) there is an amnesty deadline each year which is why we amnestied scola at the time we did last year.
