Oh definitely. I think owning an nba team should be like owning art. Intrinsic value...in owning it and winning. Not to make money. But hey, I'm not the billionaire for a reason :p

Some owners are just pure crap. I'm so torn on the Maloofs going away. I'm happy for SAC because those are piss-poor owners that NO CITY deserves, but I'm also sad that we now won't have a trading partner that Morey can repeatedly abuse in deals.

True, but from what I've heard, Olshey doesn't like what he is seeing in this years draft. Portland needs a bench. Delfino, Robinson, and Brooks could do it. Why wait it out til free agency to get them when someone else could pick them up? (Brooks and Delfino that is)

Y this would be a bad trade. If Bulls are willing to give First rounder for T.Rob then y not use their Trade exception and get some guys and keep their first rounder.

    http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterocke...-advanced-talks-on-trade-for-thomas-robinson/

The Rockets are in advanced talks on a cap-clearing trade of forward Thomas Robinson, with a deal potentially “imminent,” a person with knowledge of their plans said on Tuesday.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls have shown interest in Robinson, according to another individual with knowledge of the Rockets efforts to move Robinson’s $3.5 million salary next season. The Bulls may be interested in Robinson as part of a larger deal, the individual said.

San Antonio had been interested in Robinson but the teams are not in talks about a deal. It would be difficult for the Spurs to make any sort of deal for Robinson directly with the Rockets and would likely have to add a third team in a larger deal.

The Rockets would want to move Robinson without bringing back corresponding salary to clear enough cap room to offer a max contract in free agency next month. They would have to clear roughly the equivalent of Robinson’s contract next season to have enough cap room to offer Dwight Howard his maximum salary.

There are 16 teams with the cap room, trade exceptions or non-guaranteed contracts needed to make such a deal without sending the Rockets corresponding salaries.

The Cavaliers can make that kind of deal with some of their available cap room. In addition to their own pick, the Cavaliers have the 19th pick and two second-round picks before the Rockets’ selection with the 34th pick.

The Bulls are over the cap, but have a trade exception that is large enough to make a deal that will expire next month. The Bulls have the 20th pick in the draft.

The Spurs have only their own pick, the 28th pick overall, in Thursday’s first round and would not seem to have a way to make such a trade possible directly with the Rockets.

If the Rockets move into the first round in Thursday’s draft, they could select an international prospect that would assure that he would stay overseas next season, allowing them to not use cap space with the pick. They could seek a future pick with the 2014 draft class expected to be unusually strong.

The Rockets could move two of their three rookies last season that were drafted in the first round to clear the cap room necessary, but would rather have to trade one of their prospects than two. The deal to acquire Robinson was made in part because of a belief that he would be easier to deal than Patrick Patterson or a combination of last season’s rookies.

The Rockets also could opt to make a cap-clearing deal next month if it becomes necessary and according to a person familiar with their thinking, would prefer to keep Robinson until the cap room is necessary to sign Howard. There have been indications, however, that teams have been more receptive to deals before the draft in order to be able to consider the acquisition when making their draft choices.

I doubt the Cavs are serious. The Spurs actually have the cap space. Duncan could mentor robinson. I am sure they like the idea of taking a 21 year old rookie who had star potential coming in to the NBA. The fact that two teams gave up on him in his first year will actually be a silent selling point. It will drive him to become better.

Trob to the spurs would be the best scenario for him.

    the guy that tweeted this:
    Darren Wolfson ‏@DarrenWolfson 16h

Asked an #NBA executive for some names hot-and-heavy in trade talks. Said: Granger, M. Ellis (sign-&-trade), Thomas Robinson, and Vesely.

I asked him a question in chat:

    Comment From tim
any rumors on houston trading thomas robinson for draft pick this year? If so what teams are intersted?

    Doogie:
Swapped text messages with someone in Houston. Flip has spoken with them, but I don't believe Thomas' name has come up. Better chance Delfino's name came up. Flip has been very aggressive in talking to other teams. He swears he's spoken with everyone, and I believe him.

didnt really answer my question, but hinted that wolves might have interest in delfino

FWIW, Minny has two 1sts (9,26) and two 2nds (52,59) in the 2013 draft.

    Regarding destinations for Thomas Robinson.

    Bulls #20
Cleveland #19 (#31, #33 in the 2nd round). Rockets could also try to extract one of those 2nd round picks or 'swap' #34 for #31.

NBA Report: Increased activity in Cavs-Rockets talks, Timberwolves, Thunder and more. http://tinyurl.com/q249k3w

Following a report by the Houston Chronicle that the Cavs have an interest in Houston Rockets forward Thomas Robinson, a source told FOX Sports Ohio that the potential deal is very much alive and that activity in talks between the teams increased Tuesday.

    • The Cavs have also had discussions about possibly trading their two second-round picks (Nos. 31 and 33) to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics, sources confirmed.

    • Apparently, the Cavs are working on logistics with the Rockets on a potential Robinson deal while attempting to keep another trade with the Mavericks alive.

No way team's aren't lining up to trade for Patterson now. If they don't get a trade for him now, they will have to wait a whole year before he is a free agent.

You almost have to wonder if Morey would rather have 31 and 33 than 19. No cap hold and a chance to add some depth if we make more trades.

How about #19 (draft and stash) and swap #34 for #31 (top of 2nd round).

Then the part about working out logistics with the Rockets while keeping a Mavs trade alive wouldn't make sense. Cause they could then just do both deals.

I can see arguments being made for either deal on the Cavs side. Marion's only got the one year left, and with an 18 PER last year was still a fairly productive player. Slot him in at SF, pick up Len or Noel with the #1 and you could maybe make some noise and compete for a playoff spot.

Alternatively, he's only got one year left, he's super old, he's not a great 3 point shooter (which you'd probably want in that lineup at SF), and he costs $9 million. The Cavs can afford it, but why not take a risk on a cheaper player with prior top pick potential, realize you're not going to make the playoffs in 2014 and put it all on another good draft the following year to add to your #1 pick and hopefully a solid PF piece in TRob.

why can't the cavs make both trades?

the Cavs would get the #13 pick & Marion for their #19 pick.

i believe Morey is trying to get the #13 pick so he can draft Sergey Karasev.

If we could get Dwight and both of those 2nd round Cav's picks, we're talking business.

    Asik / GSmith / Withey (31st)
    Dwight / TJones / Donatas
    Parsons / GRiceJr (33rd)
    Harden / Erick Green (34th)
    Lin / PB

What exactly do they mean by logistics of the deal?

I'd jump on that, if we really want to move Robinson for the cap room, which seems to be what Morey wants to do in order to get that space for a max player. We should probably get a higher first for Robinson, the 5th pick of his draft, with good potential, but I like what Morey does with second round picks, and that would be a terrific one. Like the pick and stash in Europe idea with the #19, as well. Nice!
