Sorry guys, let's just wait for free agency. I tried to remove it faster, but got sidetracked. I just hope we'll all be happy in a few weeks.

If this were in person, this is where I'd be pulling you back by the shirt because you're totally being THAT guy right now. Let it go man. Let it go. ;)

I know Ricksmith will hate me for revealing it, but I'm getting tired of people asking: We're going to re acquire TWill.

Doesn't surprise me at all. That likely means that TRob is going to Boston for Boston's 3 non-guaranteed contracts and their pick.

If we land Dwight, I think we'll be ok with Lin/Bev backcourt. We don't need a superstar PG, just one that can get the ball to the guys that need it.

    This is a moronic statement.

Let's start from the beginning. First, let's just go over other evaluations of Lin's talent and prospects:

    Lin athletic talent
    http://bit.ly/RaxRkD

    Lin's future prospects
    http://nyti.ms/19prI0h

Now, the discussion here began with Chris Paul. This thread was partly about Chris Paul. So, let's talk about Chris Paul and Jeremy Lin.

In February 2010, Chris Paul had surgery to repair a torn meniscus. Which is exactly the same surgery Jeremy Lin had done in April 2012. Paul's meniscus was unable to be repaired, however, and I believe it was removed. Still, a similar surgery to what Lin had and for the same problem, a meniscus tear of the knee.

In 2010-11, after the surgery, Paul had the lowest scoring average of his career and dropped 3% on his FG%. It was said that Paul did not look like his old self.

About 13 months after his surgery, Paul began to look like his old self. Take this report:

    http://bit.ly/15CoO0x

Article title: "Chris Paul once again at the top of his game for the New Orleans Hornets"

So, 13 months after his surgery, Paul was only starting to look like his old self.

    Got it?

    Now let's turn to Lin.

In the first season after his knee surgery, Lin was:

    * In his first year as a starter
    * Faced publicly-cast doubts from his new organization
    * Faced publicly-cast doubts from his new fan base
    * Went to a new team and was under a new coach
    * Had to play in an offense opposite of his best system

Lin missed no regular season games. It was clear to anyone with a brain who knew the situation his knee wasn't right, particularly early in the year. Anyone who watched Lin with the Knicks knew this wasn't the same guy for most of the season.

Still, unlike Paul -- or other players -- the "reasoning" you heard around Lin's poor performances was that he was a "fluke" with the Knicks. That is, he did not get the benefit of the doubt like Paul did. It wasn't "this isn't the same Lin we saw who dominated with New York." No. It was "Yep, I knew Lin was a fluke (even though he's coming off of knee surgery and is on a new team)."

    Huge difference.

What did Lin do? Nothing. No whining. Just dug in, kept playing, kept moving. Took all the idiotic hate and kept rolling.

Then in late March, we hear that Lin's knee is close to 100%, finally, on strength testing machines (Cybex). Now he's almost fully at the same strength he was at while in New York.

This is 11 months after the surgery. Or about 2 months before the same time frame in which we heard Paul was starting to look like his old self from his knee surgery.

So, what happened in April, with a full month where Lin was apparently back to around 100% with his knee?

    17.3 pts
    02.8 reb
    06.9 ast
    02.7 assist-to-turnover ratio
    44.0% FG
    36.4% TH
    34.6 mpg

Fewer issues with playing longer minutes.
    Fewer issues with playing back-to-backs.

    That's what happened.

Things got so good for Lin, if I recall correctly, that he was kept in the Denver game in early April when Harden was benched. Lin seemed to be, for some period of time in April, THE guy McHale was relying on or leaning on.

Get the picture here? Can you put 2 and 2 together here?

    *

It is clear to me, crystal clear, that a portion of the people on this site appear to have either a very limited knowledge of the game or else their bias is blinding them to some rather obvious information.

And that's where I feel the Anybody But Jeremy (ABJ) gang resides.

The primary need on this team, at this time, is a starting PF. So, if someone comes in and says "Hey, let's trade Asik for (a 37-year-old) Andre Miller," I'm going to probably consider that person to be an ABJ member. Similarly, if a person comes in after it's announced that Paul is basically off the market and the first words out of their mouth is "well, looks like it's time to go pursue another star PG," I'll likely categorize them as with the ABJ group.

This type of thinking doesn't seem rational, particularly when there is a glaring need on the team at PF. And given how Lin performed in April.

The ABJ gang thinks they're slick. They're not. We know, you're always looking for the next angle to try to make Lin look bad.

He sucked in the playoffs! (Of course, he played one game before getting hurt in Game 2).

He missed the playoffs two straight years with injuries!

Beverley's play in the playoffs means Lin won't be the starter next year!

Aaron Brooks might start over Lin next year even if Beverley doesn't! (yes, I actually heard this here on CF)

    We get it -- ABJ.

Same stuff. Same ignorance or intellectual dishonesty. Same agenda. Nothing has changed, and you're still not fooling anyone.

Thankfully, Morey is the GM and not the ABJ crowd.

Would I take Chris Paul over Lin? Of course. Is Chris Paul coming to Houston? Nope.

So, if you're a member of the ABJ gang, now is probably the time to empty your chamber of "reasons" why Lin should not be here next year or should not be the starter.

Your time may be growing short.

Here is the Tom Penn (audio--5:27)

    Dwight Howard?

I think he wants to be recruited. I think he wants to be the pretty girl who is going city to city the way LeBron did. I think he is taking a magical mystery tour through Texas, through Houston, through Dallas, where they have the money to pay him with LA saying, "Come back! Come back!". If I had to predict right now, I'd predict he goes to Houston to play with James Harden to earn the virtually the same money on a gross basis he would make in LA year over year but he'll come out way ahead in taxes in Houston because there is no state income taxes."

I like how you based your entire post around a 10 game sample size (seems Lin stans have a habit of this). I remember when Raptors fans were excited about Bargnani after he had one good month of games - April, ironically. Of course even he put up better numbers than 17/7.
