No not drunk.. just realistic. Unlike some people here. Right now he would average 16, if we got Dwight, he'd average 11.5.
But you're saying Mario Chalmers would play better off James Harden, Chandler Parsons and Omer Asik rather than Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh. One of the main reasons we scored more in our "system" over Miami was because Miami usually played better transition D and got into more 24 second defensive situations that they were able to handle so they in turn got less offensive possessions than we did. And I guarantee you that Chalmers couldn't put up 38 on the Spurs if Harden were out and he had the same team like Lin did that night.
Good point. I see where your coming from. To be honest I don't even care if Lin is our PG or not. I thought about it and a lot of people have good views on here. I like to keep an open mind.
Dude, we get it. You don't like Jeremy Lin. Your entitled to your opinion. No problem. But, you really show your (lack of) basketball IQ when you start talking about acquiring A. Miller - by trading Asik (?!?!?!?). Then to suggest a Lin AND ASIK for Teague - yes, Jeff Teague... and to say it's not even close, Chalmers is MUCH better than Lin... is...just.... I can't even think of how I want to describe that. To make a statement like he "could hardly do either last season" (shoot the three or dish the rock) is short-sighted, simply incorrect, and again, shows either your prejudice towards the player (not race-wise, but performance-wise) or that you just didn't watch the games througout the season. In his first year of learning to play as not the MAN and coming off surgery, he struggled out of the gate, no question. Learning to play while "throttling back your game" isn't easy. Neither is your first full season of receiving quality minutes. Way too early to know how Lin will pan out. The guy played very well through the last half of the season. And to your comment he could hardly hit a three last year, he shot 40% (.398) in the last THIRTY-EIGHT (when the team went 23-15!) games, man - almost half a season. We're worrying about adding Dwight Howard - or picking up a quality four - to go along with James Harden, Chandler Parsons, Omer Asik and yes, Jeremy Lin (along with Bev, T.Jones and D-Mo)... and you're worrying about moving Lin? With Paul likely re-signing, there's only a handful of point guards you go out of your way and "move" Lin for at this point. Now, if a deal falls into your lap and you can upgrade the PG position, no problem. But, to mention the "trades" and acquistions you have, as well as things like Lin won't get us to the Finals... while Chalmers (who often was benched for Cole or Ray Allen), Conley and Hill were playing the point for contending teams... is just ridiculous.
At least he also tries to trade Lin to Utah for a future first AND a second rounder. May not be too bad for the Rockets.
lol... forgot about that one. I should take it easy on him though. He did back off and made a quality "retraction" post. (also didn't say anything about saying Chalmers would average 16 in our system.... Lin AVERAGED 15 the last 38 games...)
Believe it or not, he was playing decent in game one as well (although his shot wasn't falling), until the two turnovers late in the second quarter, then it snowballed. I can remember thinking before it all turned south, "Man, we are hanging with these guys... these youngsters aren't intimidated... they're playin' with OKC!" But, yes... it IS frustrating. The hate this kid receives blows my mind.
Lol Westbrook has proved himself to be productive in playoff games already. There aren't question marks and excuses when it comes to his game. He hasn't been hurt two straight years in the playoffs.
Your right I didn't watch the games. I'll admit first hand that I base my analysis off of what I can actually watch on TV (ESPN, TNT, NBA TV) and the stat sheets. I don't live in Houston and cannot afford league pass. But I do truly believe that if we are not a top 5 team by the trade deadline we do need to consider trading Lin for a 4 or at least cap space next year to sign a 4. Maybe Pau Gasol? He might be willing to take a pay cut (maybe $16 mil over 2 years?) to play for a title.
Question marks - yes, definitely. He's young and UNPROVEN in the playoffs. Disagree with "excuses", however.
Wait, so you're saying...if WB played exactly the same as he did this past season and then got the same injury, but all of this happened the first time he made the post-season...you'd judge him only on that? That strikes me as rather absurd.
Props to you for your honesty. Wish more would admit this. WAY too many today base their "opinions" off what they read and hear from ESPN and message boards (and the occasional box score).
Box score stats are not that useful. I recommend looking at trends of players (i.e., Howard and Lin this season are good examples of those on new teams + injury plaguing them in the first half vs. second half of the season), basketball-reference.com for some advanced stats like Win Shares, points allowed per possession and 36 or 48 min stats, and hoopdata for TS% and their shot % from various locations on the court, then RAPM for an overall feel for how they contribute on the offense and defense. Any of those taken by themselves can be misleading, but if you look at all of them, you'll get a much, much more accurate picture of the player. Of course, do all of that while adding the "eye test" from watching the player play in games, and you're golden Finally, no idea what will happen this offseason yet, so any calls for Lin to get moved are a tad premature. Let's see what the roster is first and who is available and what is worth upgrading.
Anybody. But. Jeremy. You guys didn't really think the ABJ group were going to give up now that CP3 is off the market, did you? Andre Miller is 37 years old. Hey, let's give up Asik to get Andre Miller! Anybody. But. Jeremy. It's a simple formula, and one you will continue to hear this offseason and beyond from the same group.
Where Jeremy Lin is at the present moment he is not a point guard that can be on a championship team starting because he's to much of a liability. Will he improve I HOPE but it isnt written in stone he will improve or just stay where he is so we have a unknown commodity regarding what he could be but what he is at this point is not what we need starting at point guard.
I'll be first to admit the way he got hurt and his play through the playoffs was pretty weak. However he did dramatically improve his outside shooting by season's end. Why wouldn't you give him the benefit of the doubt when he made such a huge leap in his 3pt %?
