Seems like the reasonable people there say it's a sensible trade but the Rockets really don't give the Blazers what they need to go to the next level. If there was pressure to trade LMA then it'd be different.

The unreasonable people are saying they would need to get Harden back in any LMA trade which is laughable. I guess all fan boards have "those guys."

in all seriousness though, i think the blazers want to resign hickson and move him to his more natural position, PF. if they did that and added Asik at C that would make a pretty damn good frontcourt. i think throwing in T Rob, T jones and picks is enough for LMA and actually benefits both teams.

if the Rockets do sign Dwight

    if Garnett is willing

    Trade

    Omer
    Donatas
    Royce White
2 future 2nd round picks (from camby trade)

    for Garnett
    Future protected 1st

I doubt Boston would go for that though

Some of the Blazers fans brought up a good point: It all depends on what Portland actually thinks it's game plan is next season.

    A. Trade LMA for solid pieces and assets to rebuild around a Lillard/Batum core. (This could be to the Rockets or to Cleveland for the #1 pick plus change)

    or

    B. Keep LMA and try to sign FAs and draft players who will push them to a playoff team right now.

Most, if not all, thought option B was the most likely and most beneficial.

Essentially the same thing we'd offer for LMA but probably more likely. Celtics have already admitted to going into rebuild mode so they're more likely to get whatever value they can for KG (and Pierce for that matter). Also KG is cheaper so the Rockets may be more partial to it, since it would make it easier to sign Dwight.

Only real hold up would be the KG no trade clause, though I'm sure he'd waive it if we got Dwight.

Would you trade HARDEN and Lin, t.jones+picks for LMA and Liliard....you get to keep Asik and your beloved Parsons...

    Liliard
Star vet/rookie/victor o. Would be the perfect fit....smh..too bad.
    Parsons
    LMA
    Asik

    Or

    Bev
    Liliard
    Parsons
    LMA
    Asik

i dont see any FA's flocking to portland to play with lillard and LMA.

the best asset of the blazers is that they are young. getting a good solid center that can post double doubles and defend, resigning Hickson to play the four and stock piling more young talent/picks is their best chance of becoming relevant again.

would love to get KG from the celtics...
KG for ASIK, DMO or Jones, Robinson (or trade TROB for the first round pick) + #34 Pick. i dont see why Boston wouldnt do this trade..
sign Garcia or a vet(or two) for minimum
    then rockets will have
    Lin/Beverly
    Harden/Veteran minimum
    Parson/Veteran minimum
    Garnett/DMO OR Jones
    Howard/Smith

Yeah who knows, everyone's perception is skewed so I'm just saying what the Blazer fans were saying in their thread.

Obviously I'd love to have Howard be a lock and trade Asik and pieces for LMA but you have to think about how Portland views their situation.

I'd be shocked if Boston didn't take that. They were willing to trade KG for D. Jordan. I don't think I'm being a homer when I say that a package of Omer/DMo is much better than that. I think they might take the offer even if we just sent Omer/White/1st round pick.

ya of course the fans will disagree but in my eyes Asik and "change" would be a good haul for them if they do want to keep Hickson around and i dont see why they wouldnt i dont think JJ will command too much money in FA.

Yeah I think it's a pretty fair trade, all things considered.

This trade goes down assuming we're getting or already have Dwight, so we instantly become contenders.

Portland admits they need at least two more years of rebuilding and gets a young double double defensive center and some assets.

For them, just adding one person to what they've got isn't going to bring them from the lottery to contention. We'll see what happens.

I don't think TRob will be in this trade since we will only be doing it if we get Dwight and we can't get Dwight until we clear TRob off the books.

Plug in a combination tjones/dmo/gsmith and picks and I think it works for both teams.

Truth be told, I would rather go for Josh Smith via sign and trade then go after Garnett to be honest. Garnett is just so ridiculously old, and to give up so many assets for him kinda seems shortsighted to me..

Yeah his age is a factor but he's still really effective. Plus he brings the competitiveness and experience successful teams need.

I've been so on the fence about J Smith, whether we should go for him or not. He can be so great and so bad all in the same game. Great defense, athletic plays, post ups... followed by 10 straight terrible jump shots and missing assignments while complaining to the refs.

Both players have pros and cons and I think we'll all weight them differently lol.

The only way Portland considers trading Lillard is for CP3, Rondo, Irving, that's it IMO. Probably wouldn't even consider Deron Williams at this point. Lillard is worth a lot already.
