Woj: I'm not a believer in the possibility of them(LAC) ending up with Dwight Howard. I think the Lakers are very leery in any circumstances doing a sign and trade. Doing one in their own building, with a guy they feel very strong about in Dwight Howard - it's one thing to send him in the West, lets say you send him to Houston and you have to play him four times a year and its not pleasant but to have him play forty-one times a year in the Staples Center and the playoffs, I just don't think Dwight Howard is a real possibility for them. You never say never, I'm not completely ruling it out, and the Lakers have been very clear to people that they will not do a sign and trade. Now they have to say that right now because the minute they open the door to a sign and trade, now you given Dwight a lot more leverage. I think they'll tell him if you want to leave, go ahead and leave, take less money, take fewer years, we won't help you and lets see if you'll really walk away and pass up that fifth year and another twenty-five plus million dollars. I think for the Clippers, they can continue to build their roster, build their bench a little bit. Metta World Peace
Then let the Rox offer 3 years so DHO can pick up another contract for the extra years his prime, to even pay him more max when he is old. (and maybe we won't even have to pay it)
Hi Clutchfans, I have long been following this forum from afar (via guest access). Last week there was an issue with permissions so I couldn't see the forum without a login. So I created an account only to notice that the forum came back to normal a day or two later. I generally got on these forums to see posts from Clutch, Doc Rocket and Cyberx. And to get a little entertained and frustrated with the LOF and LOH talk of the past season. Nonetheless, It would definitely be a dream to see both Dwight Howard and Chris Paul teamup with James Harden. I don't see any of those teams participating in a sign in trade which would be required to get both here to help create the next superteam (new Miami Heat). If not both then Dwight Howard. And if not them to get a Josh Smith because we are really weak at the power forward spot and he fits into our athletic run and gun style of play. If not him wait till 2014 and see where the dominos fall. Plus it would be nice to get some perimeter defense which we obviously lack i.e. Tony Allen, Andre Igoudala or Corey Brewer. But that will all be contingent on what happens with the above mentioned free agents whether they come here or not. Thanks everyone looking forward to your responses and to discussing Rockets basketball with everyone here!!!
Good first post. With CP3 likely off the market I think the Option 1A (Dwight & CP3 - Longshot) for the Rockets is off the table. With Dwight still looking at the Rockets as a top option I think Dwight and Josh Smith - Option 1B or Dwight with keeping Asik - Option 1C come into play. Unfortunately once you sign Dwight, it gets very difficult to upgrade the team outside of trades. You only have the room exception 2.6mil and minimum deals that you can offer. So it would be unlikely that any of those perimeter defenders would be available. My take on the situation is once Brooks, Delfino and Garcia are declined/off the roster (perhaps Ohlbrek and Anderson as well) we trade T-Rob, sign Dwight then try and negotiate a S&T with the Hawks for Josh Smith. Asik + Either TJones or DMo for Josh Smith at 48mil for 4 years. Then you sign Garcia to the room exception and then try and get Delfino and other parts on minimum deals. Lin/Beverley Harden/Garcia Parsons/Delfino J.Smith/TJones or D-Mo/G.Smith Dwight/TJones or D-Mo/G.Smith
Welcome back! I agree with you 100%. I know Dwight and CP3 is probably an after thought. We should add Matt Barnes for defense off the bench. We should draft a scoring 2 off the bench. I also think we should bring Da Bear back (Sammy Dalembert) for shot blocking off the bench. If we sign Dwight, I think we should sign him outright and then Asik for Andre Miller and trade Lin to the Jazz for a future 1st and a future 2nd rounder. Miller/Beverley Harden/Draftee (Goodwin, Green, maybe Ledo) Parsons/Barnes T-Jones/D-Mo Dwight/Dalembert This line-up = Championship contender.
Yes. If we get Dwight it works. We get Dwight we have the opportunity to win now. Jeremy Lin is not gonna get us to the finals. A veteran point guard will. Andre Miller fits the situation perfectly.
If Mario Chalmers or George Hill can be a PG on a contending team, I know damn well Lin can, especially considering his last stretch of the season.
I'm sure we could get a better point guard than Andre Miller for Asik. I'd rather have AB start at pg than miller. Lin would be fine imo. No need to trade Asik.
Both of these guards are better than Jeremy Lin. What about the idea of Jeff Teague? We could trade Omer and Lin to ATL in an S&T for Teague.
Cannot take you seriously if you think Chalmers is better then Lin bruh. Teague is not worth both Asik and Lin. C'mon man. What we need is another star, at any position. Dwight is the key here. Lin will do better if we get him, because now all he has to focus on is hitting 3s and dishing the rock.
Chalmers is by far better than Jeremy Lin. Its not even close. I'd trust George Hill running an offense more than I would Lin. TOO many turnovers for Lin. I would be willing to let that slide except his offense is too streaky. As is George Hills...
His 3 point shot improved dramatically by the end of the season. If you can't respect that, then you're just blowing smoke.
