I love Asik, but trading him makes too much sense IF we land Dwight

If we get Dwight, should we trade Asik?

disagree, outside of LBJ, Miami's roster underperformed their salaries

Uh, what? If your 3 star system is working perfectly you won't need a guy to score 37 pts with a triple double to win game 7.

To be quite honest, it's the Miami Heat which showed you that the "Big 3" style just doesn't work, the Celts and LA big 3s were aided by lux tax players like Rondo/Perkins and Artest/Odom/Ariza which the new CBA system doesn't allow.

You know, with the way that Asik has been hitting those bail-out jumpers (there was that one that was almost a 3), and if he keeps hitting them consistently in practice like the coaches have been saying, then maybe they'd give him the green-light next year; especially if Asik works hard on it this summer to compensate for his hands.

And then you'd have a magical stretch 5.

This might be meant as a humorous take on him but I do actually beleive, that the only thing holding him back from shooting more was the fear of being critisized by the coaching stuff. Thibs is the type of coach, who makes you think twice about making dumb mistakes (even if its not an actual one but one Thibs perceives as dumb)

I'm on the trade him only for Love or LMA bandwagon. Garnett? Hell no!! or like J.Ross would say..too late..too late

How would re-signing Parsons using Bird rights not be the perfect example of a new CBA-allowed lux tax player?

If you think Miami's big three seriously underperformed their contracts, you must be forgetting last season's championship, when everyone was claiming Bosh was absolutely essential to Miami's success. Or Dwyane Wade putting up his most efficient regular season ever, then showing up in the Finals after an injury-fueled slump. The fact is, you're telling people the big 3 model doesn't work, when the most high profile "Big 3" in recent memory has been to the finals three straight years, and won the last two.

Utah Signs and trades Milsap to Houston for Lin + 2nd round pick, ~8m in salary.

Trading Robinson to Boston for some combination of their non guaranteed guys (White, Williams, etc.) to free up the cap room for Howard.

Then dealing Asik for KG/Bradley does make some sense.

    Bradley / Beverly
    Harden / Anderson (vet min)
    Parsons / Garcia (vet min)
    Garnett / Milsap / Jones
    Howard /Garnett / Smith

    I like that lineup ALOT

Millsap will get more than $8MM a year. More likely around $12MM.

Also, Bradley can't shoot... wouldn't make sense to pair with Harden.

I don't think there is anyway in this new CBA that Milsap gets 12 million.

Monta Ellis was just offered $13MM a year from the Bucks. We just gave Jeremy Lin $8.3MM a year. I don't think it's unreasonable to thing Millsap gets $12MM, and I am someone who thinks he's overrated.

Ryan Anderson is worth more to NOLA than Asik would be for them. Anderson was their leading scorer last season

This. I see absolutely no need to jump the gun and try to move him now. For starters, if Dwight doesn't come then we need him. NEED. If Dwight doesn't come then we lose nothing by at least trying it out. If by deadline it is working then we run with it, if not Asik will still have tremendous trade value, and at that point there will almost certainly be other teams looking to unload a quality 4 that we can take advantage of.

I see very little downside to at least giving it a shot for half a season. The potential payoff is huge with very little risk.

Dwight Howard would make a great PF under Kevin McHale's instruction

Huh? Aren't they playing against a team also with a big 3 in Parker/Manu/Duncan, who had won 3 championships together?

Besides, how did Lebron and role player work out in Cleveland?

Yeah, big lux tax players like Rondo and Perkins, who were earning $1.2M and $4.4M respectively the year the Celts' big 3 won a ring (2008) lol.

Trading Asik for Garnett is a stupid move.

I thought that playing alongside Asik was one of the appealing reasons for Howard to come to Houston?
