Damn. Springer getting called up making my planned road trip to CC to check out the baby stros less desirable. May have to wait till Appel is up there later this summer...
Me, too. Though, I live 5 minutes from the stadium. Any other ClutchFans going to make the trip? We could make a meet up out of it. No, you can't stay at my house.
Three Stars: June 23 Quite a few really, really good pitching performances yesterday. 3. Lance McCullers, P, Carlos Correa, SS, and Teoscar Hernandez, CF, Quad Cities McCullers: W(4-4), 5 IP, H, 2 BB, 7 K Correa: 3-5, R Hernandez: 3-5, HR(5), 2 RBI, 2 R Correa landed himself on Baseball America's daily Prospect Notebook feature today. McCullers has literally blown the Midwest League away. I think he could take the Mike Foltynewicz route next season with a month in Lancaster to start and then finish out the rest of the season in Corpus. Hernandez is back in right field to team up with his GCL outfield partner Brett Phillips joining the fold. I think he's definitely a top 30 prospect in this system right now. 2. Adrian Houser and Tanner Bushue, P, Tri-City Houser: 5 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 6 K Bushue: W(1-0), 4 IP, 6 K Houser's injury probably cost himself a spot in the Quad Cities rotation to begin the season. He's just 20, though, so he's still pretty young for the NYPL. Bushue was passed by long, long ago. He's trying not to be completely forgotten. 1. Preston Tucker, RF, Lancaster 2-4, 2 3-R HR (14) Tucker's playing like he really, really wants that spot in Corpus that was vacated by George Springer. Honorable Mentions Brady Rodgers, P, Oklahoma City: Now that's a way to make a first impression. Rodgers' stay in OKC might be brief, but he could be the one to take the spot in the Corpus rotation vacated by Jake Buchanan. Joe Sclafani, SS, Lancaster: He's out-Fontanaing Nolan Fontana! By the way, Fontana's struck out 1 more time than he's walked. Carlos Perdomo, 2B, Lancaster: Depth infielder has himself a great game. The homer was his first since April 24, 2012. Frederick Tiburcio, P, Greeneville: Tiburcio really pitched well as last season progressed. He could be a Dominican Mike Hauschild, given the good groundball rates he's had in his career. Krishawn Holley, P, Greeneville: I feel like he pitched more in that outing than he did in the last 3 years combined. He's put up good numbers whenever he's pitched (every once in a blue moon, it seems), so he could emerge as an interesting arm. Dan Gulbransen, OF, Tri-City: Timely hitting put his team on the board and sparked a big late-inning rally. Brandon Laird, 3B, Oklahoma City: 2-run homer sparked a comeback, and he won it with the double. He was in a bit of a slump since returning to OKC. Goats Gonzalo Sanudo, Tyler Brunnemann, Eric Berger, and Rhiner Cruz all blew it late.
Are you sure this guy isn't just a fan of the team? Looks like he plays WoW during the day and baseball at night.
I mean I wasn't going to say anything... but yeah. Although I do have to remember that he's the paid athlete and I am the desk jockey.
Live in Austin and love going to Round Rock games, but since the Stros left I never really felt the need to go. Now with Springer and Singleton coming to town on July 8th Im suddenly extremely excited to hit up Dell Diamond. Cant wait to see 2 of the big pieces of our future core a year before they get to the big club.

Monday Stories Complex league sweep! Lancaster continues its fine start to the 2nd half of the California League season. Short-season teams swept. Recap Omaha 3, Oklahoma City 2 Philip Humber is stilll searching for that first win this year, as the Storm Chasers scored 2 in the top of the 6th, thanks to an error from Jonathan Villar. Jimmy Paredes hit a 2-run homer (4) in the 3rd that represented all of the OKC offense. Jake Elmore and Brett Wallace both went 2-4. Villar, who scored on Paredes' homer, had a steal (26). Humber, whose 0-3 record now gives him an 0-11 record in 2013, actually pitched a decent game. He went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. Jose Valdez pitched the final 2 innings in scoreless fashion, allowing a hit. The series wraps up this afternoon with a doubleheader starting at 4:30. Jarred Cosart will take on Danny Duffy in game 1, and in game 2, Bobby Doran, summoned from Corpus for a spot start, will face Maikel Cleto, whom the Royals claimed off waivers from the Cardinals a few days ago. Corpus Christi is on their All-Star break The Texas League All-Star Game is tonight at 6:00 at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale, Arkansas, home of the Northwest Arkansas Naturals. Lancaster 6, Bakersfield 3 The Jethawks have won their first 5 games to open the 2nd half, after they took the series opener in Bakersfield. This game ended at 1 AM our time. On offense, they scored 2 in the 1st, the 6th, and the 8th. M.P. Cokinos had a fine night at the plate, as he went 2-4 with 4 RBI. 2 came on a double in the 1st that put Lancaster on the board first, and he added a sac fly in the 6th and an RBI single in the 8th. Carlos Perdomo was 3-5 with an RBI single in the 6th and scored 3 times. Andrew Aplin hit an RBI single in the 8th and stole a base (11). Delino DeShields went 0-4 with a strikeout, but he also drew a walk and scored twice. Tyson Perez got the start and went 3 1/3 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits, walking 3, and striking out 3. Michael Dimock got the win with 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief. He allowed 2 hits and walked 1. David Rollins, other than getting bombed on the 10th, has just been electric this month. He went 4 innings, and a solo homer from David Vidal in the 6th was his only blunder. Rollins allowed one other hit, walked 1, and struck out 7. Game 2 of this series pits Kyle Hallock and Luis Cruz up against Shane Dyer. First pitch is at 7:45 Pacific. Quad Cities was off They'll begin a 4-game series in Peoria tonight at 7:00. Vince Velasquez and Juan Minaya will start the opener against Brad Watson. Connecticut 4, Tri-City 0 The ValleyCats couldn't muster up anything on offense, as they were held to 4 hits. D'Andre Toney's double was their only extra-base hit. Michael Feliz turned out to be the hard-luck loser in this game. He pitched 5 innings and allowed 2 unearned runs on 3 hits and struck out 4. Charles Basford pitched the 6th and allowed a run on 2 hits and struck out 1. Andrew Thurman pitched the final 2 innings and allowed a run on 4 hits. Edison Frias is listed as Tri-City's starter for the series finale tonight, but he was sent to Greeneville yesterday. Frias started 5 days ago, and Kyle Westwood pitched 3 1/3 innings that day, so I assume that he's tonight's starter. He'll take on Buck Farmer. First pitch is at 7:05 Eastern. Elizabethton 7, Greeneville 2 The E-Twins have taken the series, as they feasted on Christian Garcia and Gerardo Ramirez. Jordan Mills went 2 innings and allowed an unearned run on 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. Garcia tagged in for 3 innings, and he gave up 2 on 4 hits and struck out 3. Ramirez was knocked around in the 6th, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits, walking 1, and striking out 2. J.D. Osborne threw 2 scoreless, allowing 2 hits, walking 1, and striking out 4. Sebastian Kessay pitched a scoreless 9th, allowing a hit, walking 1, and striking out 1. The 2 runs for Greeneville came in the 7th, off a 2-run homer from Darwin Rivera (1). He also had a double. Bobby Borchering went 2-4. The Appy Astros will look to avoid the sweep, as they'll send out Enderson Franco tonight. His opponent will be Felix Jorge. First pitch will be at 7:00 Eastern. GCL Astros 5, GCL Tigers 4 The GCLstros jumped out to a 5-1 lead, but they had to hold on to that win. Yonathan Mejia hit an RBI single in the 1st to put them on the board first. They got 2 in the 3rd thanks to bases-loaded walks from Brett Booth and Jake Nottingham. 2 more runs came in the 4th off of Tigers errors; Jason Martin and Brandon Wikoff scored on the flubs. Brandon Culbreth threw 5 strong innings, as he allowed a run on 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. Raul Rivera went 2 innings and allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1. Jose Montero pitched a scoreless 8th and allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 1. Erick Gonzalez had an adventurous 9th, as he allowed 2 runs in the inning and made it a 1-run game. However, he recomposed himself and was able to end the game. The Astros and Tigers are currently in Kissimmee, where the Astros currently have a 3-1 lead in the 5th. Troy Scribner allowed a run on 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5 in 4 innings. Samil De Los Santos is on to pitch. DSL Astros 3, DSL Royals 2 After the Royals took a 2-0 lead, Jesus Bermejo single-handedly won the game for the Academy on offense. He hit a sac fly in the 4th and the go-ahead 2-run homer (1) in the 6th. Jean Estrella was 2-3, and Hector Roa went 3-5 with a double. Geronimo Franzua went 4 innings and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. Carlos Vasquez got the win in relief, as he threw 2 scoreless and allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 1. Cristhopher Santamaria walked 1 and fanned 2 in 1 1/3 scoreless. Angel Heredia pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed a hit and fanned 1 for the save. The Astros and Royals are in progress at their complex. Or are they?
In 3 years, our lineup might feature a Altuve Correa Springer Singleton ...... ...... ........ ........ SP Appel Excited.
What are some of the names on the GCL and DSL teams that a lay person like myself should look for? Are there any significant or genuine prospects down that low or is that more for international talent that may or may not pan out? I ask because I usually pay close attention to the tellitlikeitis updates from AAA all the way down to low A ball, but my eyes kind of glaze over at the GCL and DSL teams because I don't know most of them (last year was a bit of an exception since Correa was on one of those for a time).
GCL and DSL leagues I generally only pay attention to high draft picks from high schools or big signing bonuses. Payano is the only guy I am following right now at DSL. I'll be following Nicely, Nottingham, and Martin. It may not be a good time to look at these guys though as it is still very early in their development (a.k.a. these guys for the most part have had a rough start this year to put it mildly)

One other pitcher made the top 50 list and still one other was given an honorable mention just outside the top 50.
