He fills in our weakest position. LMA is a HUGE upgrade to our current PFs. The dropoff from Dwight to Asik is much smaller.
Some say Doc Rivers going to the Clippers was a move designed to entice CP3 to stay with LAC. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/nb...ch-los-angeles-clippers-boston-celtics-trade/
Response Howard has just as much (if not more) chance to compete for a title with LAC than Rockets, and he doesn't have to move from L.A. They also now have a more experienced coach in Rivers. Therefore, as long as LAC can work out the money issue, they have a better chance of getting Howard, because CP3 is not moving from LAC now with Rivers coming to LAC.
Eric Pincus believes that we may land DH and he is a Lakers homer. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/Occupy_Staples">@Occupy_Staples</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/oldmanbackagain">@oldmanbackagain</a> I believe he will sign with Rockets - over either LA team - today that's my take - has beeen for weeks</p>— Eric Pincus (@EricPincus) <a href="https://twitter.com/EricPincus/statuses/349074274683867136">June 24, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Response Agree. Even if Rivers was not coming to LAC, no way CP3 would come to Rockets to play with Harden: too much overlap. CP3 wants the ball in his hands also.
You're misunderstanding what he's saying. Comparative to starting PGs in the league, Lin is average. Comparative to backup PGs, Bev is above average.
I include Brandon Jennings not to show how good I think he is, but to show how average your buddy JLin is. Dude plays in Milwaukee, when was the last time someone in Milwaukee wasn't a chucker??? Brandon Jennings? Monta Ellis? Michael Redd? Ray Allen?
Yeah sure, but the fact remains that neither one of them are good enough to decide against going after a guy like CP3.
I have yet to see a decent explanation as to why the Lakers would hand Howard over to the Clips, even if getting Griffin and Bledsoe in return. Sure, that's definitely better than losing Howard for nothing, but they'd be making the Clips contenders for years, and Dwight is their insurance if their Lebron dreams don't pan out in 2014 (which they probably won't). Are they really stupid enough to condemn themselves to obscurity for the next few years while handing the spotlight to the Clippers? The Clips also have to be willing to give up Griffin, and by all accounts they are not willing to do so. And with Doc Rivers coming, they will be achieving their primary goal this offseason: keeping CP3. I suspect they will look to build around him in other ways while trying to keep Griffin. The only way I see it happen is if Howard says he is definitely not staying with the Lakers, and says SnT me to the Clips or I walk to Houston. Other than that neither team has a huge incentive to do such a trade.
• In the most-pressing Lakers news, league executives are beginning to strongly believe center Dwight Howard will sign with the Houston Rockets in free agency. That said, not one of those execs is certain of Howard’s actual plans, and he too appears to remains undecided. http://www.foxsportsohio.com/nba/cl...ls-for-No-1-dr?blockID=914657&feedID=3724
Agree with those that say Howard can't play for the LAC. Howard will not want to create that kind of environment and then have to live and play there. Houston or LAL at this point. Going back to LAL means giving away this next year (will he want to give up a year in his prime?) This should be SO easy for Howard. Howard Whomever Parsons Harden Lin Is damn formidable and there is room to upgrade the roster.

With Doc Rivers going to the Clips and Paul like ly to stay too, Houston's chances of landing Dwight inch up again ever so slightly. Houston 50% Lakers 40% Other 10%
The only scenario that worries me is the Lakers trading Dwight for Griffin, but both teams would have to want that, and Dwight would have to want that. I do feel pretty confident, however, that Dwight isn't re-signing with the Lakers. Other than making nice, what tangible thing have they done to show him they are trying to address his concerns?
This week is going to be very interesting to say the least. Just some things to note and look out for- -Clips will most likely not be able to trade KG for DeAndre. Its nearly impossible given the statement the NBA has made about this not being permittable under the CBA restrictions. -Paul Pierce howevever, could easily become a Clipper seeing as though Boston was probable going to buy him out regardless. He would have the option to go play for CP3 & Doc after he cleared waivers. So good news is, its going to be very hard for Dwight Howard to get traded to the Clippers regardless. Bad news is CP3 is almost certainly off the market with the Doc Rivers deal & possibly Paul Pierce getting bought out to join them. More important stuff for the Rockets to look out for in their pursuit of Dwight- -Dont rule out the Lakers to make a massive trade between draft night & the start of free agency to entice Dwight to re-sign in LA. Would Gasol for K Garnett/Terry be a deal the Lakers would pursue? Would bringing in KG change Dwights thoughts of the roster next season to win a title? I would have to think that Boston would be interested in doing this deal or something similar. Moving Garnett and Terry's salary for the remaining years, and adding an expiring in Gasol(who actually can be productive on the court & help their younger players improve) might actually make sense. There are other trades out there that could make sense, but I just want everyone to keep this in mind- Dont be surprised if the Lakers make some noise in trades this week to try and change the tide in their favor to re-sign Dwight.
