Because auto correct is supposed to, I don't know correct automatically?
You see when you type on a smartphone and you misspell a word it will have the correct one above it and correct it as soon as you go ahead to the next word or it usually knows what you are trying to spell. This time it didn't do such a good job. My mistake? But its still my stupid iPhone's fault for not catching it.

Wait till one week in, then give them 2 weeks notice and be honest why. Apologize and hope for the best. No need for them to know you got the offer before you started with them.

I've been a retail manager for years and things like this tend to happen a lot. I always appreciated honesty in these situations.

You can either 1) disable the autocorrect feature, or 2) cancel the suggestion by pressing the backspace or the x on the suggestion.

Even if you don't do any of the above, you can still read your post again or check to see if you didn't mean shoeing instead of showing. Don't give me the lazy excuse.

I'm not the worst, dharocks... I'm sure there are some worse than me. :p

Be honest, were you the grammar nazi who left corrections via the rep? Dude stopped doing work when people complained. And now they're begging for reps.

You tell them the moment you want to quit and just leave.

LOL, its a retail job. In the end you were going to end up leaving anyways unless you like being miserable. They were going to screw you over for a tons of hours and free time you could have spent enjoying life. Basically what I'm trying to say is, Why do you care so much about a retail position? That job was going to suck hard. You should be glad that you are going to be able to tell your manager sorry but I found someone who is willing to actually pay me for my time and not slave me.....

On top of that, you wont be any good to them. 3 weeks is not a lot to learn everything and be efficient enough so they lose money and whats your check going to look like if you make 40 hrs a week? $450? $500? LOL..... Limit your spending until you get to your new job. My boss offered me cash when I started just in case I was in a bad way. Maybe they will too... Do you need cash for gas and food? Say yes and work hard...

this. its a volatile workforce (the part-time workforce). If you work hard and let them know few days before, I think that would be ok. They aren't paying you full-time, so don't quit like a full-timer.

Yeah it's a retail job. I don't think you need to worry about bridges being burned here. Take the job for some spending cash and just give them one weeks notice at most and explain nicely. Don't feel guilty.

Well there are a few reasons why lol

One is My wife and I shop there all the time. I don't want the awkwardness with anyone who works there. Secondly, I may have free time with the other job I just got to where I could work part time at this grocery store. In the next year we will probably be trying to get a house so any extra money I can save up the more it will help me.

Also, I'm a very honest guy. I'd feel bad for leaving them like that. My past job I wouldn't feel bad because they were complete assholes. But so these grocery folks seem nice.

Nope. I don't hide my corrections from people. They should be put out there for everyone to see and learn.

cover your bases in terms of finances for you and family.. and don't leave even a penny on the table. Whatever it takes to do that.

That's what the business will do.

It's called 'business' and they will take care of themselves and you need to take care of yourself too.

I hate to be harsh but when you tell them you are leaving they will be sad about it for about 14 seconds. Simply put they don't care.

Now if you are covered financially and okay with having that moment you tell them be your last day then tell them at that time. Sure you can be cordial and nice about it all along but just remember again they don't give a shi**t except for coverage.

This. Usually, I'd say give at least two weeks notice. Certainly more if it was a professional occupation, but for that? Work two weeks, and then tell them you feel bad about it, but this suddenly came up. In a way, that's what happened. They'll probably let you finish that third week.

lol this new "career" type job is trying to explain to me how the schedule will work and it just doesnt make a lick of sense....

"The twelve hour shift schedule works out as 4 days on 2 days off 3 days on and 2 days off. It a 28 day month you actually only work 14 days. So to answer you question you are not off a entire week at the end of the month. It works out as a 28 day month you are only working 14 days. If its easier to understand it write out a schedule for 28 days working 4/2/3/2. Hope this helps!"

    "Four 12/hr days
    One-two days off
    Three 12/hr nights
    One-two nights off
    Three 12/hr days
    One-two days off
    Four 12/hr nights
    One-two nights off

In a 28 day month 14 days are actually worked.

Benefits once permanent 401k 7 1/2% match, medical, dental and vision.
9 paid holiday and 4 worked holidays.
One paid vacation after one year of service
Two weeks paid vacation after three years of service
Three weeks after six years of service
(After 6 years you actually work 5 months out of 12 months) Wow that is a great benefit!!"

If its 4 on 2 off, 3 on 2 off.... so that right there is 10 days and it comes out to be 7 days working and 4 days off. How the hell will I be working 14 out of 28 days?

When I quit my PT fast food job of 4 years, I didn't even give them a 2 weeks notice. I just walked in one day and said I quit.
