Three Stars: June 21 3. Asher Wojciechowski, P, Oklahoma City L(3-3, 5-4 season), CG, 6 H (2 homers), 3 ER, 7 K I'm all for seeing Wojo making a start in Houston in September. 2. Piggybackers! Jordan Jankowski, P, Quad Cities, and Bobby Doran, P, Corpus Christi Jankowski: W(3-0), 3 IP, H, 3 BB, 6 K Doran: 3 IP, BB, 2 K The old man of the QC roster has really shown the younguns that he can pitch a bit. After lagging a little in the strikeouts department, he's striking out over a batter an inning over the past 2 months. Aside from Jake Buchanan, Doran's probably been the most consistent Hooks starter. He really uses his 6'6" frame well, as his heater usually goes downhill and that also usually results in grounders. 1. Lancaster Jethawks vs. Rancho Cucamonga: 14 R, 12 H, E, 9 IP, 4 H, 12 K Well, not much to be said here, other than flat-out domination. Honorable Mentions Chris Lee, P, Greeneville: Let's hope the third time's the charm. Lee is rather young for a JUCO product; he was 18 when he was drafted in the 4th round in 2011. I think he's got the talent to be the system's top lefty, but he's going to have to stay healthy in order to develop the consistency and get the innings that he needs. Luis Cruz, P, Lancaster: If not for that rough May, he might be knocking on the door to Corpus right now. Carlos Correa, SS, Quad Cities: Sure, I'll take a triple slash line of .305/.398/.426 from an 18-year-old in a pretty pitcher-friendly league. J.D. Osborne, P, Greeneville: A very nice pro debut for the 5th-year senior from Wofford. Brett Wallace, 1B, Oklahoma City: The Day of Judgment is nigh. Teoscar Hernandez, CF, Quad Cities: The jump from the DSL to the GCL to the Midwest League in 3 seasons hasn't fazed this guy. Sure, he's working his way out of a rut, but I think he's held his own very well this year. Goat Nick Tropeano's probably happy that the tandem system in Corpus is ending.
Alex Freedman is the OKC play-by-play announcer. Alex Freedman (@azfreedman): And there it is: First OKC home run by Singleton. High fly ball the opposite way into the LF bleachers. 5-0 Hawks after 3 inn.
6th youngest player. Heres a great link for that kind of information http://minorleaguecentral.com/youngest
Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal 2h As I said, #STLCards’ Miller that he had pre-draft deal with #Astros in ‘09. Luhnow took him for Cards at 19 - two spots before ‘Stros. *sigh* Shelby Miller or Jio Mierda?
I wasn't saying different, just living in the world of what ifs, since we're talking about what could've happened with Miller.
Make it .360 after today's 4 hit performance. 7 multi-hit games in his last 10. Hits in 9 of his last 10 games, and the one game he failed to get a hit, he got 2 walks. OPS now up to .845, and climbing. Also, he continues to be an absolute witch in the clutch. He's batting .419 with runners in scoring position. Tonight, he hit a game tying single in the 9th inning (didn't get credited with an RBI due to error by RF), and then hits a triple in the 11th and gets driven in by the next batter to score the winning run in a walk off win.
I wonder what the situation is with Matt Duffy, he has a great glove and a .953 OPS which I'm sure is California aided, but nonetheless very good. Is it unheard of to promote a guy straight to AAA, Jonathan Meyer is at AA and appears to be just figuring it out. Duffy is much better offensively and as good defensively as Meyer. He is older so it just seems he should be ahead of Meyer not behind him. Or is he just forced to wait for Meyer to move up, Duffy is already 24
Looking ahead to today's action now... OKC and Omaha will play a doubleheader starting at 3:30. Game 2 is a makeup of a postponed game on May 29. This series will actually be 6 games, as there will be another doubleheader on Tuesday. That one will be a makeup of a game that was postponed on May 31. Both games were called off due to heavy storms in the OKC area that week. Brad Peacock will start game 1 against Chris Dwyer, and in game 2, TBA will take on Brian Sanches. Corpus Christi will wrap up their series with Frisco this afternoon at 4:05. They'll be looking to get a split after dropping the first 2 of this series. David Martinez and Mike Foltynewicz will take on Carlos Pimentel. After that, they'll be on a rather brief All-Star Break, with the Texas League All-Star Game to be played on Tuesday. The Hooks will be back in action on Wednesday, when they begin a 4-game series with Springfield. The 6 pitchers who will be starting from there on out have yet to be determined. Lancaster will look to sweep Rancho Cucamonga out of The Hangar at 5:00 Pacific. Chris Devenski and Brady Rodgers will be taking on Gustavo Gomez. Quad Cities will also be looking for a sweep, as they wrap up their series with Kane County at 5:00 PM. Lance McCullers and Dan Minor will be taking on Felix Peña. After taking 2 of 3 from Lowell, Tri-City begins the 2nd leg of their roadtrip in Connecticut. The starters for that game are TBD; first pitch is at 4:05 Eastern. Greeneville will be celebrating their home opener tonight as they welcome the defending Appalachian League champions, Elizabethton, to Pioneer Park. Frederick Tiburcio will take on Hein Robb at 7:00 Eastern.

Yikes. He and Rio have been two of the bigger disappointments prospect-wise this season... which isn't all that bad when you consider neither are top 5 prospects.
