Rockets have been offered a 1st round pick for Thomas Robinson (UPDATE: So much for "imminent")

This is what I believe / hope. I posted the same thing a few weeks ago. Great post!

I'm only scared though because the owner has a seriously bad case of "star"-itis.

How much decision-making power Morey really has vs. being hamstrung to carry out the whims of the owner is anybody's guess.

Case & point, the report that the front office wasn't who was really behind signing Lin last summer.

Maybe the owner again instructed Morey signing Howard is to be his number one priority this off season, whether Morey believes it is a good move or not.

Consider Deron Williams. A lot of people called him the best point guard in the NBA not too long ago. Then at age 27 (same as Dwight) he got a max contract & his game rapidly declined constantly struggling with injuries.

The money they save by not signing Howard they can use to sign Ginobili, Delfino & the first round pick acquired by trading T-Rob.

Delfino CARRIED the Rockets last season.

I don't think very many people realize how much worse their record would have been without Delfino.

Nobody on the team now is going to provide what he did if he doesn't return & he is impossible to replace, being one of the top clutch shooters in the NBA.

100% spot on. This totally reeks of a another auction. Just like the WOJ report from a few weeks ago. Morey is just trying to get as much value as he can. Maybe he can hit a home run and attach Royce White's contract in the deal.

A "draft and stash" on a Euro would be great. Just another asset. Rockets also have a high 2nd round pick this year and their 1st/2nd next year. So many options to "fill the cupboard" after a Dwight acquisition.

We aren't going to be trading the pick. The rumor is we pick a player and stash him overseas so he doesn't count in our cap

First of all, Ginobili will not play for any NBA team other than the Spurs. Never say never, I guess, but from the way he's been talking lately, it sure seems that way. Second of all, his value couldn't be any lower right now. Who knows if he'll be a really productive contributor again. And finally, none of those three moves get us any closer to contention, if you ask me...

What's wrong with his shooting form? It's a very slow release. I think that is why his shooting off the dribble isn't that great.

    i do not compute.

no, i am NOT talking about upside. i'm talking about where this draft is weak. you suggested that no one would give next year's pick for Robinson because next year's draft is much better and this year's draft is 'weak'.
I said it may be true when it comes to high picks. But this draft is deep.

I tell you what -- if the Blazers are not interested in bringing back Hickson they are crazy. That guy played tough last year -- double double, very efficient, showed a lot of different skills: midrange shot, post defense, rebounding, running the court.

People want to talk about plan C if Dwight does not come here -- putting Hickson in that 4 spot instead of someone like Milsap would be great. The guy is only 24, coming off of a very solid and efficient season, and seems to be a little under the radar, so he might be had for a very reasonable contract.

Adetokunbo is the kind of player who is projected as a late first rounder now, but if he pulled out of the draft, he would go closer to 11-12 in a year or two.

Not sure if he is more Batum or Leonard though. Could go either way, it seems.

The Blazers problem with Hickson was his D at the center position. He played out of position all year and was not the rim protector that they needed. They want someone bigger, more athletic, and more of a shotblocker at C, and they hope it will be Leonard.

Hmm...i think the video i saw earlier was of when he was younger. I saw a newer one and he has more handles than i thought. Better than Leonard's. Joey Dorsey says he saw durant at the same age in high school and that's who he reminds him off, but he needs to work on his shot. I think i can agree with that. He could end up somewhere between a Batum and Durant. Rockets should definitely pick him up, if they get a late pick and he's still there.

I like what I see of him too - but let's never rely on the claims of Ray Lewis with a basketball, okay?

I agree. I wish there was another way. I want Trob to stay and was excited about his potential which I believe we will regret.

Depends on the draft pick. I'm thinking it could be a mid round pick which would be paid around half of what Robinson is being paid. And with the Rockets needing a wing player _ they could draft someone like Shabazz Muhammad which would be cheaper than bringing back Delfino and or Garcia and an upgrade in my opinion. Or they could go point guard or a big man but it's some players in this draft that could help the team in the long run.

They're going to park the pick in Europe for a year. 3.5 mill out, none back.

LOL at Dorsey. Physically, I can see the resemblance, but saying he reminds him of Durant but needs to work on his shot is kind of oxymoronic. Durant has always been one of the purest shooters around. At the age Adetokunbo is now, Durant was in college winning the NCAA player of the year award on the back of his shooting touch. He's not a guy who came to the NBA and became a great shooter -- he's always been elite in that respect.

Based on the clips I've seen, I see his upside being more of a prime Boris Diaw on offense with potential to be an elite-level defensive disruptor (like Garnett level elite). He's a long way away from that, as his body probably needs to fill out a bit, and I'd imagine the NBA will require a ton of adjustments, but the physical tools are special. A lot of it depends on his motor.
