I don't know how I feel about this. Parsons talking so openly about recruiting Dwight makes me think that none of this is serious. If players were seriously colluding, they wouldn't be so open about it. It would be hush-hush, like the LeBron/Wade/Bosh thing in 2010. They wouldn't be out there announcing their intentions to everyone before free agency even begins.

Or is it genius in that it gathers momentum for the Rockets, while at the same time, making it less of a surprise if/when Dwight leaves LA. We all know that he's sensitive to what people think about him. Maybe this lessens the blow compared to him just suddenly leaving for a team he wasn't linked to.

Player interaction is not illegal. Players recruit players all the time. LeBron's decision to go to Miami wasn't done until Bosh decided to go to Miami instead of joining LeBron in Cleveland.

its not colluding. Collusion implies something illegal.

I'm pretty sure LeBron, Wade and Bosh were planning on teaming up long before Bosh made his decision to sign with the Heat. If I recall correctly, Bosh slipped up in an interview and said they were planning it for months beforehand.

There was a meeting between the 3 of them in June that year, and Stern's position was players are allowed to discuss free agency prior to free agency.

The problem was that Lebron, on a visit to Miami while he was a Cavalier, supposedly had a private meeting with Pat Riley. Pat Riley supposedly showed him his rings in a way to show him what he could have if he joined the Heat... Which is definitely not legal.

I don't think any of this was proved though.

Well, if we're going to be pedantic --- collusion implies deceit, which is not necessarily illegal.

The Lebron bosh and wade thing was def not hush hush. I recall bosh and wade sitting on both sides of an empty chair. I remember all the rumors and all of them hanging out in public. Everyone knew it was going to happen.

Dwight is still on the fence, might as well use that opportunity of seeing someone win a championship and telling a person "that could be us". I think any human being, regardless of the situation, if he knows there's an opportunity somewhere and a friend or acquaintance says something like that - and you know it could be very true (so you joining them would make you successful) - you're going to be thinking about it. Would be funny if Howard texts back: I'm not watching, don't want nobody winning no freaking championship! Try again there Chandler..
