He would give up the ball? and you know this HOW? Hes not going to come...I hope Howard comes...BUT I think its unlikely...but theres a chance...no chance on Paul....he will stay where hes at....dont be surprised if his deal is done in the next few weeks...... The Rockets are a really good young group. They have a solid shot of building a team that can win long term. Its a risky move with Paul. Hes a prima and so is Howard. I just dont see Paul fitting however Howard will do great with the 2 guards they have that can create and play pick and rokk and also feed the rock down low....Howard might happen but he could have come in the past and said no....I think he stays in LA LA land
I agree with all of your points so far, but expecting the Lakers to fire D'antoni at this point is just unreasonable. He has a three year contract, they won't fire him until they have assurances that Dwight will re-sign. Dwight is probably serious about exploring his options in free agency and therefore cannot give any such assurance at this point. Jackson might not even want to coach unless Dwight is there, so how could they hire him now? Bottom line, the Lakers will not fire D'antoni preemptively. Howard will meet with teams in July. If he give them an ultimatum to fire D'antoni they can consider it then. In the meantime, Jackson is brought in to show that he is still tied to the organization. It certainly puts D'antoni in the hot seat.
I don't think it affects Dwight a lot unless Jackson has sway over the way DAntoni uses Dwight offensively. Otherwise,it's the same ole stuff with DAntoni ignoring the best center in basketball on offense and Dwight pouting about it.
It's not like the situation is Dwight/CP3 or bust, 2014 and 2015 will also have superstar free agents. I'm happy getting a quality FA with one guaranteed year and rolling with this roster again. now that we have Harden it's inevitable that we will get a superstar to pair with him

Free-agent star Chris Paul pushed the Clippers to hire Rivers as coach, but will have to settle for Lionel Hollins, Brian Shaw or Byron Scott if he plans to re-sign with Los Angeles in July. Paul is unhappy with the fallout over the failed deal, sources told Yahoo! Sports on Friday night.
For the draft pick TRob is ('reportedly') being offered. And then KMc can go 'home'. The pieces would fit. Wouldn't they?
As much as I want Chris Paul on the Rockets, don't you feel that he's excessively demanding on what he wants on the team? I can totally picture him clashing with McHale and Morey on which players should be brought in. Paul playing the GM role hasn't even gotten him into the Finals yet, so why does he have so much say in what he wants? Is it because of the incompetence of Clippers management? I know that superstars = championships, but I dunno if superstars acting as GM will equate the same success. Failed with Lebron in Cleveland, Paul in NO and LA, Dwight in Orlando, and probably more that I can't think off the top of my head. Oh well, that's my rant. I put my faith in Morey to deliver a championship winning team so whatever he thinks is best, i'll support it. Morey is also capable of filling the roster to be as competitive as possible so hopefully if we land the superstars, they'll put their faith in Morey too.
Wayback Machine - - MJ got his Hanes is a lather when the Jerrys wouldn't trade for (the washed-up) Greyhound, Walter Davis. Even earlier, Earvin Johnson was peeved when the Lakes would not bring in his MSU buddy (name just out of reach at this idle moment). I'll take the risk with CP3 and DH12. Just give me the chance. Puh - leeze.
More non-news. Doc probably will help determine the ultimate finale. Or undermine it, I suppose. KG may actually hold the final hammer. WWKGD?
Saw this tweet (not embedded, bad technodunce me): CelticsBlog @celticsblog 1h this RT @scott_souza: Perhaps seeing how it was for Ainge to deal w/ #Clippers gave Doc Rivers insight what it might be like to work there.
Btw the LA times wrote that Phil has very limited contact with Mitch and doesn't have any input either. http://www.latimes.com/sports/lakersnow/la-sp-ln-phil-jackson-lakers-20130619,0,4712964.story You can see the authors comments on the sources credibility here http://forums.lakersground.net/viewtopic.php?t=161992
