duh fuq people! parsons was drafted in the 2nd round. we passed up Leonard for Morris! parsons and leonard could be on the same team right now!
I keep on thinking that there should be a cute Japanese manga version of him known as "Kawaii Leonard."
The Shawn Marion comparisons are spot-on. Not sure that I necessarily see a future All-Star when I look at Leonard (granted, Marion was a 4x All-Star), but Marion was an invaluable piece to plenty of very good-to-great teams. You win championships with guys like Marion and Leonard out there playing garbagemen for you. Either way, this kid is very impressive and a complete steal for being taken 15th overall. Major props to the Spurs organization on this one.
another fantastic draft pick and development by the Spurs the Spurs haven't really dipped in talent for many years, great management
I'll wait to see him play with more attention on him before declaring him a future all-star. He got a lot of good looks 4-5 feet from the rim and cleaned up some rebounds because of good team box outs. His stats may not have been as good, if they could have focused on him more. Leonard is a good defender, but any time a legit SF comes in to guard Lebron and out goes a smaller SG, Lebron isn't going to like it.
OMG, Kawhi Leonard - you're the greatest player I've ever seen!!! I want to have your baby!!!!! Yeah, he's a great role player, but he's no cornerstone of a franchise. Come on.
Agreed. Leonard was awesome in the Finals, but his performance reminds me a lot of another athletic, young, quiet small forward who was amazing in the Finals, only to fall down to earth again and get traded 1 year later. In the 1995 Finals, Robert Horry averaged 17.8 points, 10.0 Rebounds, 3.8 Assists, 3.0 Steals, and 2.3 Blocks for the series, and some felt he had a legitimate argument for Finals MVP. http://www.basketball-reference.com/playoffs/NBA_1995_finals.html Robert Horry was my favorite player, and he showed amazing flashes, but never fully achieved his star potential. So far, Leonard reminds me a lot of young Horry.
I want to see how he does with extra opportunities next year. He has the tools to be an all-star or borderline. Defense is already all-nba caliber. His offense still needs work (off the dribble is the key) but he already is a very good stand-still jumpshooter along with a decent playmaker. Very impressed with his game. Most impressive player in these Finals.
And we could have taken Kenneth Faried over Donatas Motiejunas. Parsons, Faried, Leonard in the same draft.
