Favorites after one listen: Black skinhead, Hold my liquor, guilt trip, bound 2. These where very very very good tracks. I don't know how to explain but it felt like watching a movie, with lots of different rythmes. I like that he stayed away from the classical stuff and is trying something new. rest was meh. Will listen again though.
Finally got around to listening to it. It is not trash but I thought it was okay. There were some good songs but nothing amazing imo. It didn't blow my mind on first listen like MBDTF did.

I can dig it. I am into witch house and industrial so that's probably why I like it. Edit: After headphones in the studio I have to say musically it's great. Will listen to it for a while.
Havent listened to Kanye in a while. I really dug the sounds of this album though, not your typical rap/hip hop album.
It was OK at best. Not my cup of tea. I can't sit here and say it was amazing or anything like that. I won't be really listening to it anymore.
I like it, a lot but dude is just trying to go overboard too hard. I cannot stop listening to the new J Cole album though. Friggin' brilliant album.
Really? I've been reading that its better than his debut album which I was really underwhelmed with. Might have to pick it up then.
Hands down better. I was afraid Cole's album was going to get overshadowed by Yeezus by those who both love and hate it
I'v listen to the whole album probably about 5 times now, i think its pretty good. Its different, and i guess that's why some people think its trash but i think that's what makes it great. Where else can u find a star rapper, rapping over a Marilyn Manson beat? Sampling from a catholic middle school choir? Sampling a Hungarian rock band? While integrating it all into modern electronic hip hop beats??? Kanye is the best.
Electronica sighting.. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/x58UYC640EA?list=UUzwk1TT8KkixIbJheBLmuAQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I heard Mac Miller album is great and held its own against born sinner and yeezus, haven't heard it yet.
As a hip hop fan I disagree. Its as if hip hop fans don't want their music to evolve sonically. Hate on Kanye's narcissistic lyrics but as a whole his production for this album has stopped mud holes in anything on Born Sinner. I've just listened to it, trust me.
So it can still be a great album if the production is great and lyrics suck? Why not just get the instrumental then?
Lyrically and metaphorically what makes J-Cole's album better than Kanye's? Because it's "deep"? Must be nice for J-Cole to make an album Kanye made 8 years ago.
J. Cole's first album, IMO, was pretty much recycled songs from his past mixtapes that's why I feel it flopped. Most of this material on Born Sinner is new and original which usually helps a rapper go from underground star to mainstream superstar. Yeezus if awesome, I like both albums equally.
I never said it was better. But I'm also tired of these kanye fans thinking anything new and different he makes is the best thing to happen to rap. Album was pretty mediocre lyrically and production wise but he can get away with it because his name will push the albums so he can get his shiny platinum plaque. That's just my opinion of course as a fan of kanye for the past 10 years.
