SAS is the most classless piece of sh#t on the air. He's complete trash. I have my doubts about Schaub, but you don't invite a HOFer on and then spend most of the time throwing his teammate under the bus. There are other ways to get at the QB question. The guy's a stooge.
What did you think of him in the 2009-2011 years? Ironically he and the passing game were considered our main strengths during this time, and I considered Kubiak one of the top offensive coaches in the league. Schaub definitely put up the numbers back in these years, and was actually pretty clutch for the most part. I don't think its a matter of him + Kubiak never having it, but over the last few years with an increase of defense and running the passing game has gotten very very conservative. Which works against weaker teams, but I feel like once the Texans actually had to come back the offense almost wasn't used to playing up-tempo and stretching the field. But back during the 9-7 and 6-10 years, even though we weren't winning Schaub would maneuver drive after drive and the 3 and outs were way more rare compared to this season.
1st take is just a joke in general. It's for extremely casual fans, and they keep it pretty simple and make cliche blanket statements like "Lebron isn't clutch and can't play well down the stretch" or "the other team wanted it more". Anybody remember when Mark Cuban came in and destroyed Skip? That was awesome.
The year he went to the Pro Bowl and made MVP, I can't recall for sure, but I think it was that season that he hit his peak, his numbers were up there. My problem with Schaub is he is so immobile, injury prone, and un clutch. He seems to fade in the big games. Not all his fault, but he doesn't seem to have the "it" factor that inspires teams. He may be a nice person, a good team mate, and a great all around guy. I don't know him, but what I have seen of his performances overall, not impressed.
By clutch do you mean making plays down the stretch or showing up on big stages? Definitely don't disagree with the big stages thing this season, he rarely showed up, but in that pro-bowl season and also the 2010 season it seemed like whenever we needed a drive to come back Schaub would pull it out. Remember how many 2nd half comebacks we had in those seasons? On the mobility, he's never been a fast QB but in past seasons it seemed like he could move around somewhat. He had good enough footwork in the pocket to step up to avoid pressure or roll out on bootlegs. This season I saw almost none of that, and in this years pro-bowl he actually had I think a 12 yard scramble where he looked surprisingly fast. I think this may be a Kubiak thing where he is just trying to protect his QB and not take risks, but that really came back to bite the team in the playoffs. On the injury prone thing, I honestly feel like he has just had some unlucky freak injuries, but I'm not really sure. Overall, I'd be 100% confident in the 2009 or 2010 Schaub, but this past season I feel he digressed in numerous categories. I'm hoping it was just a rough year and that he comes back better next season.
This. I use to be a very shy person, and that is what i saw from the response and movement of Dre. That "Im not the type to agree or talk bad about anyone, even if I agree.
I know some won't believe this, but I hope you are right. I really want the Texans to succeed. They have elite talent in many positions, I just think they lack elite leadership. I really like the tone and temper of your posts. You are willing to consider opposing viewpoints. You avoid useless and juvenile oneupsmanship tactics. You avoid insults and name calling. I wish there were more posters like you. Repped.
