I agree with your assessment, BUT as great as Akeem was he hasn't been relevant for almost 20 years. It is like the Republicans that keep lifting up Regan.
I am ready for the Rockets to be a real championship contender, like next year.

You forgot fans of individual players too.

They don't hesitate to devalue our best player, so I don't hesitate to tell the truth.

    No.

Nothing's odd about telling the truth.

    Who's Ronny?
    I'm a 99er. We have unique personalities.

When you see someone on tv on ESPN insulting the Rockets championships (not first round exits, not individual players who haven't won anything), CHAMPIONSHIPS

    does it make you mad?

It turns every Bruce Banner Rockets fan into that other guy

Open your eyes, read the GARM. the knowledge you know as the truth is being erased in front of you, fight for the truth.

I'm not preaching to the choir. This isn't the R Kelly "I believe I can fly" video.

former Rocket? you mean ETERNAL ROCKET.

But youre educating for no random reason. Its like the Xbox One randomly trying to fix something that isnt broken. Hakeems the best, anyone with common knows it.

This coming from one of the biggest homers ever, check the sig.

2012ers and 2013ers using the word homers should be insta-ban.

I love Dream as much as everyone on this board but there is something to be said for putting up a 30 and 17 game in a finals at the age of 38. If we're comparing guys at their peak I agree, but Duncan's career as a whole is pretty damn impressive.

He was a hell of a player. A LEGEND. Just wish he could have played his last days in Houston and hung it up when he was obviously done.....and play for Houston only, as Timmy has done with the Spurs.

It does not. At most, I will laugh and roll my eyes when Shaq says the Magic lost in 1995 because he was too polite to Hakeem. But I don't get mad.

Well, you are probably right about this actually. I mainly just read through the GARM for rumors. Other than that I just search for posts by Clutch, Bima, and maybe 4 or 5 others. So I wouldn't really ever come across this.

I think this thread would actually be far more effective if you quoted those people who you targeting with this thread. Let it be known that User 1 thinks Hakeem just got lucky against Ewing, or whatever. That is better than a thread started with 3-4 GIFs and a few declarations of Hakeem being better than any player ever on a specific team (I still have no idea why this thread is about the Spurs when it was supposedly started without inspiration of the current Spurs team/Finals).

He's better than the top players on about 23-24 teams. What's your point?

And Robert Horry has more rings than Duncan. So I guess Horry is greater than Duncan. Right?

I read a tweet making it sound like its atrocious that Duncan would be brought up in the same conversation as Hakeem. That's just petty. You wanna say Hakeem was the better player go ahead, but to act like there is no debating between the two is ridiculous. Duncan has twice as many rings and is still going. They have had god knows how many 50+ win seasons and he has been their leader throughout most of it. Yes Parker is considered their best player now but that shouldn't hurt Timmy's argument when being compared to someone. Give him credit for being able to play with others. I still say Duncan has been their best player the whole time.

I've been a Rockets fan since I was about 5 years old (about 40 years)

While I loved Murph and Malone, I won't lie and say I never liked other teams or players. (when the Rockets weren't very good or out of the playoffs mostly)

My favorite player as a kid was Julius Erving. Loved the Sixers. Liked Zeke and the Bad Boys too. It was easier for some reason back then to "like" other teams or players, unlike today.

I also liked MJ coming out of NC. Then, as he was becoming "God", I became a hater. Hated all the calls he got and all the all time comparisons. Only years later am I able to look back and realize how fortunate I was to watch arguably the greatest player of all time's entire career.

Having said all that, Hakeem, in his prime, was the only player who's ever come CLOSE to dominating on both ends of the floor the way MJ did. (at least in my time).

What Dream did with very little help (played with some very good players but no GREAT players until Clyde) was simply amazing. The way he CARRIED his team, all while the opponent knew nearly each and every time down the floor Dream was getting the ball, was truly awe inspiring.

Duncan is a great, great player. Arguably the greatest PF of all time. His longevity and consistency is remarkable.

But, for anyone who watched both to say he's a BETTER BASKETBALL PLAYER than Dream is a crime.

Duncan has NEVER been considered the best or one of the two best players in the NBA in his career. During MJ's absence Dream was THE BEST player in the NBA hands down - easily. (and one of the two best for several years)

You won't find ONE player who played with or against both who would say Duncan was the better player. Not one would take Duncan over Dream. Other than MJ (and again - in my time) I've never seen ANYONE DOMINATE both ends of the floor, a game, a series, an opponent, a team, an adversary, a contemporary, like Dream did. He was flat out UNSTOPPABLE. He CHANGED games on both ends of the floor in his sleep - like it was nothing.

As good as Duncan is and has been, he's never been that and never DOMINATED like an MJ, a Dream, or even a Shaq (who rarely dominated or changed games DEFENSIVELY).

For those who didn't see Dream's career to look at certain stats and rings and assume "well, Duncan must be better... " is just ridiculous and wrong.

Opinions are fine - but, when those who played with both will tell you Dream was the better player, don't you think you might be WRONG?

You're assuming they even know who Robert Horry is or care.

Don't even assume they are Rockets fans, I don't anymore.

All this talk now about Dream and even MJ makes me want to find my old VHS copy of a game where the Bulls were in town and we finished on like a 19-2 run to end the game... and Phil pushed the camera away as he was walking off the court.

I remember Sam Mack getting called for a block when it was clearly a charge late and the crowd and Rudy went nuts.

One of my best regular season memories. Hated the Bulls back then and always wanted to face 'em in the Finals.
