Good, though I'm still leaning PS4 due to preferring PS exclusives on the last generation. Still probably won't buy either for at least a year so MS still has time to win me back.
I don't understand why MS will sacrifice the quality of their product because of consumer demands. With DRM devs will make more money and will offer better games with better pricing. This news is very unfortunate. DD
OK I understand doing away with all the disc based restrictions, but why do away with all the game-sharing capabilities with the downloadable titles? I was looking forward to the possibilities of the "family sharing" As it stands right now, the only benefit to downloading a title vs. buying the disc is the ability to play at launch (as soon as it is downloaded). No sharing or reselling! Also this whole deal about requiring the game disc to be in the system to play the game will take away a tremendous amount from the X1 experience. Where previously you could receive a game invite while doing something else and seamlessly jump into a game, you now have to pop in your disc. This may seem like a non-issue, but those extra few seconds/having to get up can change the decisions we make. For example Of course you could just download the game, but then you would be totally restricted in terms of sharing/reselling.
Good point...that is a little unfortunate...I think that I would prefer downloading, because reselling a game for 6 dollars is not worth it for me, I'd much rather be able to just go instantly into a game.
From a gaming standpoint nothing changes. If the Kinect is the revolutionary device they hope it to be then nothing changes, online games will/can still make use of the 'cloud' all that changes is if I want to play Witcher 3 offline then I can, if I want to let my friend borrow it for a week I can. That game is now mines and not theirs. The only issue with Xbox is the Kinect. With all the recent news and Microsoft being part of that news it still will be a small hurdle. Hopefully you can easily disconnect the thing without much hassle.
A better experience! There is no reason why they can't have some sort of DRM policy regarding downloads. Give people the option! Of course more people will go the disc based option initially. However with a better experience/greater possibilities with a digital copy, I could see people gradually changing their minds and becoming more accepting. I am glad they didn't change their stance on bundling the Kinect. If they honestly believe in their device, having 100% of Xbone users with a camera will be a great incentive for developers to utilize it and incorporate it into games. As it stands right now, the Xbone is too expensive to be a legit media center option and too weak in terms of graphics to compete with the PS4. I feel like the strength of the exclusives comes down to personal preference, so it is moot. And now, they have done away with (IMHO) a significant aspect of their unique and trailblazing approach to the next gen console. The initial surge of buyers will care more about the experience AT LAUNCH, not what the future holds. So tell me again why I should choose the Xbone over the PS4?
It's good that MS listened to the consumer. Soon they'll be listening to the consumer much more, 24/7.
In what way is the XBone too weak in terms of graphics? The PS3 was a lot more powerful than the 360...but the overwhelming majority of cross platform games played better on the 360 in terms of graphics and frame rate. Before MS did this turnaround, it was looking like the PS4 would have the edge in cross platform games because it was much more developer friendly. Now, it's back to square one...and past history has shown that MS can be just as effective in the strength of its gaming experience. It really just comes down to exclusives and who prefers what...the opening day lineup for XBone is stronger than the PS4...that can easily change down the line, but either way, it's a toss up. And like it's been mentioned, if developers can really focus on the Kinect (since all systems will have one and it is something that can be useful this time around), then that will really give the XBone a possible advantage in gaming. Yeah, I know...people want to just sit on a couch and not raise a hand, but if the developers can get creative, then you never know. Why choose a PS4 over an XBox One? Because it has a more powerful engine? That didnt help the PS3 too much. What else? It all comes down to games, and so far, XBone has a pretty solid lineup as it stands today.
Yes there is, it happens all the time where they float out an onerous idea and then pull back. If enough consumers b****ed then MS did the right thing for now. DD
I'm here now..... Chill people..... I been at work all day sooo as usual I either post very late or very early in the morning..... Now lets move on... I'm shocked.... Cant believe they are really going to do this but I'm glad that they are giving people what they want.... The DRM policies never bothered me and I hope they are still going to run games off the cloud. I have supported Xbox One from the start and I'm just glad they are making moves to change things and make this "console war" more interesting..... But like I already said, I feel like meh towards the policies... But glad that they made these moves for the majority of people who will prob now make the move on getting a ONE.... Those who ordered a PS4 already, well I hope you are happy.... Kind of sucks Xbox didn't do this earlier so that people could have a better choice but meh oh well..... Anyways.... I was going to buy a ONE regardless.... I hope we don't lose the free game trading feature and cloud...... Just let people keep they're games in physical media, and no more internet check in and no game policies...... That's it! keep the rest its all great stuff.... With that said..... What console looks better now?
Not really referring to that...just in general. I step into every thread and it seems like there are posters that genuinely enjoying making negative comments towards DD.
