Microsoft the company doesn't have to fail, just the XBox One. I hope it doesn't damper the Kinect/Media stuff they are doing and realize that is not why their system will be losing the early part of the next gen.
Lengthy interview with Phil Spencer: http://kotaku.com/the-xbox-one-believers-513819282 He uses a 360 game (which isn't even announced for Xbox One...yet) as a reason why an always online box is a good idea. Actually wouldn't be the first time a Xbox 360 game was used to justify some of these policy decisions. Sounds like they might be content to ignore the vocal minority in hopes that there is a non-vocal majority that supports their decisions.
X Bone will still sell huge numbers, but it's now PS4's lead to lose. As for MS, they want to be Steam, but Steam is free, and the X Bone is 500 bucks.

I forgot if it is said in that video, but they'll be showing PS4/Xbone games later in the week as well (oh and Wii U). Today is Watch Dogs, and tomorrow is CoD IIRC.
Hmm... http://www.giantbomb.com/articles/microsoft-to-pull-complete-reversal-on-xbox-one-dr/1100-4673/ Bit more in the link. Saw this rumor a bit earlier and was skeptical, but I trust Klepek (for the most part). Maybe something to it...
Um, wow. If that really is the case, then I no longer have a beef with XB1 at all. It'll once again come down to the relatively meaningless choice between preference of exclusive games, controller preference, console loyalty, national loyalty, beginning price point, etc. None of which is really all that significant a factor when all is said and done.
Just release a watered down Xbox One (no Kinect, maybe smaller HD), and beat Sony's price... How much more exciting would that be?
I see another link here. http://www.whathifi.com/news/microsoft-to-back-track-on-xbox-one-games-drm-and-always-online
Yeah, that was where I originally saw it, but I didn't really put a lot of faith in them. But saw someone on NeoGAF (an insider I believe) reported hearing something before that was posted, and now Klepek/Giant Bomb posting it. Rumors are rumors, but I'm quickly coming around to this one, as unlikely as it might sound. (Might not be today though...heard conflicting things about that)
