One of the greatest Finals games ever and please stop with the ref talk, they were bad on both sides and if it was called like a normal home game, the Heat would've received a lot more FTs.
One of the craziest and gutsy comebacks I've ever seen, in an elimination do-or-die NBA finals game nonetheless. To think, if Manu or Kawhi sinks both of their free throws instead of splitting, it would have all been over already.
Yup, believe it or not I hated MJ growing up. I was a Sixers fan and got tired of seeing him beat us all the time. But even then I never doubted his greatness nor hated on his game. And I don't want to be misunderstood. I LOVE Lebron. I was just growing frustrated watching him turn the ball over so much at the end of the 4th. What was your reaction to that Danny Green breakaway turnover? I made that comment in frustration, but I stand by it. Do you think Lebron is better than Jordan?
No man you're right. I was just trying to kill time at work and now I'm coming off sounding like a dick. I was only responding to someone else, but you're right. There is no need for that kind of negativity in this thread. That was just such an incredible game. I was watching it at work and yelled out loud when Ray Ray hit that 3. What a game. Can't wait for game 7, but I just can't see the Spurs shaking that loss off.
Popovich out-coached himself. Why would you take out the best rebounder for the game in the final 2 Heat offensive series?!?!?!?!? Spurs had a 5 point lead with 23 seconds when they took out Duncan. 2 Miami offensive rebounds = 6 points, simply Pop choked. It is like McHale not playing Asik in the last 2 minutes, or the Pacers coach who took Hibbert out the final play of the game which cost them 1 game that 1 game cost them the series. That is basketball 101, play your best rebounder, shot blocker unless your Shaq or Dwight- infamous free-throw shooters, Popovich PH.D in basketball finals outsmarted himself. If Lebron matches up against Parker, game-set-match for Heat. TMac needs 1, come on!?!?!?!? Wait, the Rockets need 3 more, forget it.
So all dis referee talk from salty ass Heat Haters about da referees no calls, Manu got fouled on his drive, Danny Green got fouled on his three, what about when Leonard dunks on Mike Miller and clear room wit his off hand smacking Mike Miller in da face? Or when Ginobli intentionaly elbows Lebron in his throat and no flagrant is called? Or when lebron drove on Green and green hit his arm and wrist on lebrons shooting motion up
To be honest...I fully expected the Spurs to win...last night...and they were 2 boards, 2 FT's, and 2 three's from winning title 5...they choked...I have never ever seen the collapse the Spurs showed at the end of quarter four...I feel terrible for Spurs fans...and the truth is i was rooting for them, just because I felt they had something special...To be that close and not win...is just plain demoralizing... Its over for the Spurs...Duncan played his best and just ran out of gas..TP..made miracle plays in the 4th and ran out of gas in the OT...Manu played like total ish...and deserves to get ripped nationally and by the Spurs fan base... Miami played so well down the stretch of game 6...Lebron played so well in the 4th...and then TP happened...Lebron felt dejected with that timeout that was called...and he was looking defeated in the huddle..the entire heat team was looking defeated...and then something ive never seen happen...the Spurs choked...on the biggest stage at the biggest moment...with seconds left for a title...5.8 seconds to secure a rebound and they didnt...and the best 3 pt shooter of all time...was brought in to do just that...Lebron's legacy was saved by Bosh and Allen...Bosh and Allen single handedly brought them from the brink of a loss... Spurs may prove me wrong...but this was devastating and gut wrenching...for every player on that team...Duncan, TP, Pop, Manu...all looked shell shocked...a look all so familiar to a team that seems so dejected by the outcome, that i think it is over...Miami might just win it in a blow out fashion...who knows...The Spurs literally had a golden opportunity slip right out of their hands...but Miami scrapped a win from the jaws of defeat...Good game Miami, and Spurs fans...it really doesnt look good for game 7...and thats sad...the Spurs really have a great team, that just blew it...
18 points plus assists and rebounds in the fourth/OT for Lebron but the Heat saved him. I don't feel bad for one Spurs fan. They have 4 titles since 99. Cry me a river.
I put it more on Ginobili. He didn't just not have a good game; he was a big negative for the Spurs. He had a +/- of -21, and it felt like it while watching the game. 8 turnovers, and nearly all of them were just dumb pass attempts. I don't get how he can play basketball for so long and still make what are usually considered "rookie mistakes."
Its really psychological...Manu apparently has been playing like ish the entire year...game 5 was his best game this season..just to put things in perspective...something really wrong...
You don't need a shot blocker when you know the other team will be hoisting 3s. Spurs forced the miss but long rebounds are tricky. This is nothing like what happened with Vogel taking out Hibbert, which was dumb beyond belief when everyone knew LeBron would attack the rim. Do you really think TD would have had a chance to block one of those 3s?
Personally as confusing as that may be...TD their best rebounder in the game is huge...but the lack of securing a rebound is all on the San Antonio players...period. Even if they tapped the ball out of bounds...they still had a chance... When you have a slew the 3 point shooters, you have to switch everything...i would..its the best way to defend...you just cant be picked off...Ray Allen was already at his highest shooting point by the time TP closed to him...Bosh and Allen made huge plays...that is just the fine line
If the Heat lost I would have put this one on Spoelstra. After going with a lineup that was getting production and helping them make the comeback, he went back with Wade. I can't blame him, you have one of the best SG in the league but at the same time he's obviously not 100%. If I'm Spoelstra I throw that lineup back on the floor; LeBron, Allen, Miller, Battier, and Bosh to start the game. After that I'd substitute with Wade coming off the bench fist to spell LeBron, keep the playmaking yet add shooters with guys like Chalmers and maybe even Lewis. This has been one exciting ass Finals. Last night's game was one of the best I've seen in quite some time.
